wouldn't tell me who they were

called this morning, didn't say anything, then again, didn't leave a message

Called for a different first name I said she does not live here.  Caller contradicted me ans said she spke with the person she was looking for several times at my number.  call was during the dinner hour; not business hours.  I am on a no call list.

Seems to be professional "bank bouncers" who do not directly work for the company they represent full time. Freelance [***] who attempt frighten people into paying more then they really owe ( interest-wise ) on past credit or student loan debt.

Even if they have the wrong person they will likely be assuming that you are the right one trying to evade them and will thusly hassle and hound you in a usually quite unfriendly manner.

If you can find out who they have been hired by it is your legal right as a private citizen to kindly request that they stop calling you via certified mail. If they still persist after that you then have a genuine foundation for a lawsuit.

But hopefully they won't push it that far.

PS. Even if you are the person they are seeking you still have that same legal right to request that they discontinue calling/hassling you. You MUST address this issue to the company who hired them ( via certified mail ) and not with the individual calling for they are simply a roughneck for hire.

This number is for Meridian Financial Services.  They are a debt collector for any company who have someone not paying their bill on time.  If you don't make your payment to them as arranged, they will call you repeatedly and harrass you until you make your payment.

These people call and either leave recorded messages or simply don't speak on the phone when answered.

Evidently trying to collect a debt from someone but refuse to speak on the phone when I answer so I can tell them they have the wrong number.  It is becoming very annyoing.

Calling at around 9pm at night but don't leave a message or anything.

Called 828-365-1084 after they called without leaving a message.
Customer Service Rep stated it was Meridian in an attempt to collect a debt. Unfortunetly, for me and them my home was not the one they had been looking for. I also have the do not call option.

they leave a voice mail saying to call back  800-849-1236  and to refer to case number: (( recording hangs up)).     So,  I am not calling over some scam or something,    hence checked O.L.,   and am glad I did

address for them so you can send them a debt validation demand or cease communications letter

Send it certified - return receipt for proof they received it

These people are reall jerks

This is not a legitimate effort to collect a debt. My number is unlisted, unpublished, and has never been reported to any company for any reason.

Continued to ring my telephone.  I do not answer calls from numbers I do not recognize.That is the advantage of having caller ID.  I too have no debt and is on the do not call list.  This must be a random call.

Calls repeatedly with no person or message. Harassing calls. Three times a day with no one there. meridian financial. We do not owe them anything

After a doctor certified that my daughter could no excersise thus no bound legally to a gym conract, one year later they started calling to collect saying the doctor was not assigned by them thus not certified.   The were very persistant and even made a racial slur saying "our type" always did the same thing, buy, buy buy and not want to pay back.   The name given to me was false, or he was being protected since every time I called back to contact a supervisor for the racial slur, I kept gettin a "no one with that name exists as an employee here...

Do not phone me.

More than likely trying to collect unpaid debt for Royal Holiday travel club, a scammer org. that gets you while you're on vacation. You have so many days to cancel your 'travel club membership' but you are on vacation so you don't, and then they have you. They do not actually have a product or service for the money they take from you

When you see an unknown number calling and you think it might be a debt collector always answer with a company name, "A & E Financial Services how may I direct your call?"  If they ask for someone by name, tell them he or she doesn't work there and to please stop calling this business.
