This number, when called back, is for a general fundraising organization.

Same. When called back, says its a general fund raiser for much needed donations. Caller ID said it was from Carmel, CA
Odd though considering my number is on the national do not call list.

If you want to get off the do not call registry, so you can receive more calls, you will have to call, and ask to be removed yourself!

This number calls and asks for my husband, but then hangs up without a response. Sounds like a real human, not a recording. What's the deal?

CID shows Local Area Call and then the telephone number.  Never leaves a message.  Calls all the time.  I am very tired of these type calls.  These calls can wear a person's answering machine out with hangups.  I will purchase a blocker device!

The guy called asking for someone who does not live.  When I said the person doesn't live here, he made threating remarks and hung up.

Unfortunately, the people who are calling you will not see your message unless they are monitoring this site, a highly doubtful scenario.  Therefore, your pleas will go unseen.  A suggestion would be to block the number.  The do not call list is just that, a list.  Telemarketers are "supposed" to register and purchase the list and consult it to make sure they are not calling a number on the list.  However, some will register and purchase the list knowing that the numbers on it are valid and are hoping that the people they call will either ignore them, or respond without reporting them.  I believe the laws differ from state to state so you may want to consult with the FTC or FCC but reporting them is a good bet as is buying a call blocker or adding a call blocking app to your phone if you do not already have one.

This # calls 2/3 times/day. Never leave message. It's been going on for at least 3 weeks so far.

    These people are are handicapped fund raisers.  They are dedicated to their work because they call almost every day.  It's impossible to get them to hear you (because they must be deaf) when you tell them that the person they are calling passed away two years ago.

Called 4 times this morning.  I'd pick up and immediately hang up and they would call right back again.  I finally just blocked the number.
