- Sun City, CA.| 4 replies1) Sounds like someone WarDialing to find functioning Phone #s that they can then sell to entities that will wait, at some point in the future, for you to pickup, but (832) 234 - 0331 will never call again. If Linda`s $100 Reward Redemption/Rebate were for real, it only makes sense that Linda would re-call your phone # again & let you have time to pick up, so that she knew for sure that you got a chance to hear her spiel.
2) Unless Linda has found a way to Game her employer, who may get a record that she made a number of calls, but may not know that Linda didn`t stay connected long enough to do the presentation she was hired as a telemarketer to do. Call 200 Phone #s as fast as she can, hang up after 1 or 2 rings, & get paid as if she had done several hours more work.
3) There is also a scam where someone calls #s & then hangs up before it can be answered, hoping that the called party will be curious enough to call back, only to find that they have called a toll # when their phone bill later comes in (when they call the #, there is no announcement that it is a toll call, just a recording or someone that keeps the caller on the phone as long as possible, but the first minute is charged even if you hang up after only a few seconds.
4) Even this website is suspect, a place to report having received a call from a Texas Area Code, it could be here just to get additional info about the curious called parties, in the form of IP Addresses or forms of meta data that the average person using modern technology is unaware of.
5) It could also be a combination of 2 or more of the above, &/or some other scams not considered here.
6) Good luck to you all. - ErikCalled, left no voicemail
- JCGot call from this number. Rang once then call ended.
