I got an email response for a CraigsList.org listing. It does seem rather fishy. He said that he is just moving to Central Massachusetts.  Again he was talking about a certified draft and pickup from FedEx but needs my name, address, and cell #.  Again, simple transaction..that seems like a lot!

Very similar situation to barbs and wasps. Got a response from a craigslist posting. Claims to be going to send a certified draft check (lies), and his mover will pick it up (more lies), because he just moved to the area. Searched the phone number he gave and it is a Houston number. I don't live anywhere near there.

Same as most of you, got a reply to a Craigslist post. Says his name is Seth.  Next email he changes email accounts and says mover will pick up etc.  SCAMMER!

New phone number used:  (720) 336-1094  and says he is hearing impaired so he will receive phone messages as email.  Number comes back to CO, I am in IL

I also received the same message response to a Craiglist post.  The name on the e-mail, however, was Kelly.
He/she used this e-mail first: kellysimpson34@inbox.lv
and then this one: jamesbaliy9@gmail.com

Posted an item on Craigslist in Charleston, SC and received a response from "Seth".  Why it sounds fishy:
1. Microsoft Outlook labeled it as Junk E-Mail.
2. The listing was for a set of 4 wheels for a truck... the reply was...
..."Is the posted item still available and I hope it's in good condition? Seth"
3. The reply email is Seth Grant [ccsgr24antt22@inbox.lv]... what the HECK is inbox.lv???
4. inbox.lv is in Latvia (Russia)

I recieved the same responses to a craigs list post. this person claims all the same things as your post, even stated hearing impaired. used two emails. Why would a hearing impaired person want to purchase a clarinet? scammer

inbox.lv is a latvian mail server in Riga. Scammer you bet and not exactly loca no matter where in US you live and work.
that guy answered my craigslist with the same hokey reply. He has been working craigslist all day. Some of his messages are being sent at 6 am when it is late afternoon here. His mailserver stamps it with his local time, a warning clue.

This guy did the same exact thing to me...can that be reported to the police or something? I'm so mad!

Same as the rest  claims name is Seth claims mover to p/up  claims hearing impaired claims secretary made mistake on amount of draft claims give me an extra $100 for my troubles  obviously low life cheat.

This is the exact message he sent me (I was selling a washer/dryer).  The whole thing just did not sit right with me so I put davidrops.com (his email domain) into Google which brought me to this thread.  Thanks for the warning!

hi iam todd this is the exact same reply to my post. was selling item for 300 said his secretary  accidentally wrote the wrote the draft for 2500

i just got the exact same situation!!, and email!! its totally bs!! i just googled his email on a whim, and i found this!! this is some crap!! aparrentlt he is using different phone numbers too!! cause the initial search turned up with another phone number somewhere else in the country, so, im sure there are others!!!

I received the same response today from 'Nicole Thonpson' asking if the item is still available.  I respoded with yes, cash only and you pick up.  She then replied 'I am interested in buying, My mover will be picking up things for me around there and will be able to buy it from you today. Please do get back to me with your number so i can give it to him and he can pay for it today.'  I then asked, will he have cash?  She replied yes and that she needed my number to give to the mover.  I gave my number since it's posted on the ad anyway and told her I wouldn't be dealing with any scamers.  She replied 'This is not scam,I bought few things which is picking up but have extra money of mine with him,His a registered Craigslist mover and he  said he sent you a reference code which you will give
to me so he can go ahead and give you the money in cash when he arrives, Please when you
receive this code get back to me and i will have him call you to get your address and
schedule the pick up.Did your receive any code via call or text yet?'

Needless to say I haven't recieved a text or anything and would not be calling her back.  I was suspicous of the e-mail address and the response from the beginning and my instincts were correct.  My last reply - it's $100, first one with cash in their hands gets it.

Glad to see I'm not the only suspicious craigslister out there.,..

Same exact scam from Nicole Thompson.  Same wording about craigslist passcode and mover.

I also got an email from Nicole X Thompson. After a few emails she sent this, "Yes no problem,I bought few things which is picking up but have extra money of mine with him,His a registered Craigslist mover and he  said he sent you a reference code which you will give to me so he can go ahead and give you the money in cash when he arrives, Please when you receive this code get back to me and i will have him call you to get your address and  schedule the pick up.Did your receive any code via call or text yet?

I asked her to pay in cash. I got the code and sent it back to her, but she hasn't contacted me since. What do you think the code is about?
I actually got my "automated phone call" from a different number, but it was Nicole Thompson.

Got this message today about something I posted on CL,  Glad that I googled the email address, came from nicoleixthompson, reply to nicolexthompson.  Seriously people are ridiculous.... Thank you guys for posting these warnings, saved me a lot of trouble....

Yuup.  Got the same NicoleThompson (nicoleixthompson@gmail.com) as the prior post about an hour ago.  However this time "she" adds that she is deaf so she cannot communicate.  I am trying to sell a couch on Craigslist in Chicago.  Figured I would google search the e-mail address and name to see if I got any hits.  

The part that I am trying to figure out is what are they trying to do with this information or what does their scam consist of?  Anyone can get a name and address from the white pages - unless their scam has to do with the whole certified check aspect?
