    Received a call regarding a fraud investigation against me but when I ask her to provide me the information of when did I take the loan out and who was it with, she stated she didn't have that information it didn't give her the particulars.  REALLY??? If I have a legal litigation pending then she should have a date, how much the amount is, who the company was that provided me with this so called loan.  Told her to go ahead and proceed and I will get my lawyer to fight this.  Get these calls all the time and I'm sick of it!!!

    Been getting these fraud scammer's calls for months now. I put 'em on my call reject list. They don't even get through anymore. If you get these calls with the area code 832 or 210 and have the opportunity to use your call reject list, don't answer the call the first time. After that, then go ahead and insert them on your call reject list. You will never be bothered again. Guaranteed.

    I've gotten multiple calls from these people now. Very threatening message. I call them back and they tell me I owe money to some loan company who is pressing charges against me. They said they were going to give me one last chance to pay up before they pursued criminal charges. THIS IS A TOTAL SCAM. I told them if they were for real then they could serve me some papers.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    •Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    Yes it is a scam and you fell for it.  You never get a call about an arrest warrant, the police just come and arrest you.  Also, debt is civil and not criminal.  If you do have a defaulted on debt, chances are very good the money you sent did not satisfy the debt as this scammer in all likelihood had no legal right to collect in the first place and will just sell your information to another debt collection scammer.

    Had a voice mail from a woman sounding overly aggressive saying I have a tax lean against me, #1the IRS would contact me via mail, not on the phone, so luckily I had just seen the news last night warning people to a similar situation so I'm not even going to respond.

    Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

    I got a blocked phone call, and was told to call back 832-514-2545. She was very rude and said I had a Tax Lien against me, and gave me some attorney office name. But when I called the 832 number back it just said the person I'm calling is on the phone. I didn't leave a message, because I have no clue what this is for or what to do.
