- JWgavin brown left a message for my husband, who passed away 3+ years ago. Said he was from the IRS and there was a warrant out for his arrest and I needed to call him back to prevent the arrest. I tried calling back - the call never connected through. He had a foreign accent - this is bull.

- ElspethTypical scam. Don't bother trying to call back. If your now-deceased spouse owed taxes, the IRS would mail you a letter via USPS. They wouldn't call you, threatening arrest. So sorry for your loss.
- NotFallingForTaxScam| 1 reply"Sean Taylor" from the IRS called to say I have unpaid taxes from 2008-2013. He had a strong Indian accent. When I replied that the US IRS does not conduct business this way, he told me "you talk too much." He said he could see my records. When I asked him to tell me the name of my Accountant that completed my tax forms he said he couldn't see that part of the record. The only information he had was my phone number and address, which are public record. I called the number back and Sean Taylor answered. When I asked him if he was aware that there is a web page full of information about scams from this number he hung up. Do not engage with anyone calling from this number.

- DaveCalled here. We tried to call back, but no answer. They called back and said they were from the IRS and would arrest me. I asked him to prove he was from the IRS, and he asked if I'd like him to text me a picture from his phone. I told him I knew this was fraud, so he hung up.

- Slim replies to 63yr old| 1 replyThere is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.
USA tax payers should read this:
http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Reiterate ... -Telephone-Scam
Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

- JenSame thing for me - the guy called 4 times after I hung up on him. He called a 5th time and I didn't answer and he left a rude message. What benefit is it to them to get our attorney or accountant's information? Our paypal account was recently hacked (5 days ago). I'm wondering if this is related. I sure feel like I'm under attack.

- Dianna HansonOur land line was called at 8:40 am this morning and then my cell at 8:42 a.m. A message was left on my cell to call back (844) 210-4555 stating I have broken Federal Tax Code 61331X to call back. I called back and spoke with two Tax Officers: Adam Wilson, Badge No. W2995 and Shawn Taylor, Badge No. DM-75. They are stating I am being sued by the Tax Fraud HQ Office in Washington DC for tax evasion and started to read an Affidavit to me stating I have no criminal record but I owe for 2006 through 2012 back taxes $6,400.95 according to their audit plus another $85,000.00 as a penalty. They represent Attorney James O'Conner. I have 19 minutes to pay in person or they will file with the local IRS Office & Police and will be coming to arrest me in 2 hours. My Case No. C-S-E 2218. I stated I have no idea what they are talking about and cannot or walk drive due to an accident. I also stated I should have received a hard copy of the notice. They stated a notice was mailed via First Class Mail in January 2014 and I did not reply. I have no record of one. They state that they tried serving in person in April 2014 and no was home, they left a yellow slip on my door and took a picture of it and still no reply from me. I told them no yellow slip has been posted on my door to my knowledge and they stated I am guilty of lying as they have a photo of the notice on my door and then told me my address. I told them I cannot pay the amount or fine in 19 minutes, they stated in 2 hours I will be arrested and detained for 48 hours and taken to the Federal Court House and then hung up. I have always paid my taxes and this phone process does not seem to me to be legal nor right. They are stating my wages will be paid direct to them, my home taken away, my car taken away --- I am self employed as a Notary so be my guest---I do not believe this is right. they hung up on me. Both had India foreign accents. Very rude and threatening.
