trying to put a debt on me from an ex fifteen years ago

Debt scammers.  Ignore.

Classic debt scammers.  Say that they are process servers and that there is a claim against you and that they need your address in order to serve you papers.  Say that it involves a delinquent payday loan.  You'll get arrested and so forth and so  on.  Total scam.  Ignore the calls, block them.  Do not call back and do not pick up on calls you do not recognize, These scammers like to use 844 area code.   Do not give them any information and DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY OR AGREE TO.

Fraudulent or Zombie Debt Collectors—Things to Know

If you have received a call stating:

1. You have defrauded a financial institution
2. You owe an unpaid payday loan
3. You have a warrant due to an unpaid loan
5. You will receive a court summons
6.  Authorities are coming to arrest you
7.  Anything similar to above,
 a.   Do not give them any information or verify any information for them
 b.   Tell them you know they are a scam operating illegally and that you are   filing a complaint with the  appropriate authorities
* File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage     http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
* File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in
The more information and complaints there are, the better the chance of getting these criminals to stop (or at least reduce the frequency).    [abstracted from another site]
They continue to bother  you, tell them you are going to the police to make a complaint of extortion.

My son got a call by same number asking for me saying its a processor and I was about to miss a court date never heard about court date till then

Got a call from 949-930-0557 tell me to call my neighbor and he needed to call the 844-216-5641 number and gave a ref # 100178 asap

Same here called gave a reference number said they was a process server coming here Mon of we do not call them back name was Brian Lawson Legal Company same number 844-216-5641 case number that I was suppose to give to these ppl never even said what the matter was regarding i hung up guess we will see what happens or if they call back or show up i dont know

Nobody will show up.   It's most likely a scam.  No legitimate process server notifies you ahead of time they are gong to serve you with process; they just show up.  These people are just trying to scare you into paying them something.

Got a message left on my message machine to call this number back, sounding all official like with a case number in regard to some unidentified "complaint", but did not say this call was for me specifically so that made me suspicious.  A legit legal call would have used my name. Glad I checked this before calling them back.

Major soles try to say they were process servers wanting to serve me for court, they are so fill of it had my attorney call and place a cease and disist order so they can't call anymore. They called from an 859 area code then gave me the 844 number.

9/9/2014.  I just got my first message from a scammer. He stated i had a case pending against me, case#83934.  That he could not forward the Supenoa.  He  needed  my current address(that raised a red flag).  I do not, have any cases pending against me anyhow.  Ask that i call this number 844-216-5641,immediately before 12noon tommorrow.  Leaving no contact or name of the company.  I typed in this number to see who it may belong to, so glad i did.  Vital information was posted, thanks everyone!

It was not a Political CallerScammer, more like a Process Server Scammer.  I guess it rerally does not matter.  A  "NO GOOD- SCAMMER"' is just that.

got the same call first from i person stating was i going to be home today to serve papers i ask why they gave me the 844-216-5641 number to call which i did  they said i was being sued on credit card i never heard of . but what they did not know i have i niece that works for bbb in my city icall heard and she found out in mins that it is scam  hope this helps someone good day

Thank you all for the posts. I received a call this evening, they left a message telling me a complaint had been filed against me and a case number. Also said to call back 844-216-5641. Glad I checked, seemed very suspicious.

They said they want to send someone to serve me and if I don't comply I will be a rested

Have called a few times, message on answering machine, mumbles  "this call is about a complaint file, call 844 # for conference immediately" . No names of any sort.
