    Call from FDS
    Called me at work. Said they were from Maricopa Processing Service Division. Had a SC100 form in a sealed envelope for me. Company filing against me was FDS & Associates. Looked them up online and the only FDS is a Canadian-based divorce firm. Threatened to bring them to my work to serve me and make a big scene out of it. They spoke to HR and my.boss before I found out they were even calling me at work.

    Called my wife's cell, home phone, work phone and her dads cell all in one day. Left message on wife's phone then called home. I answered. Lady said she was from Processing Services Division of Bexar County. Asked what it was in regards to. Said they had forms regarding a Hallie S. Wife told them she doesn't know a Hallie. Lady got kinda pissy and sighed. Wife hung up. This has to be some kind of scam. I called the number back and it said you have reached the offices of FDS and to leave a message after tone. By the way..dudes voice was extremely creepy.

    Yep a scam, they told me F and S litigations not FDS, anyways there is no FDS or F and S litigations. Called my son and Girlfriend saying they had a complaint against me and they were going to serve papers which I never got and aren't on record. They said they are in California but the numbers cell tower is in NJ. I told them to serve my so called papers or I will file harassment charges for calling 3rd parties for the so called debt. Don't let these idiots intimate you, oh and the first time they called they said it was investigative services and was the creepy voiced dude that has the message on this number.

    This is a number (one of at least 3 that I know of) connected with Fisher & Burns Financial LLC, a collections agency that was trying to collect on an old debt with Apex Alarms from 2011 and that harassed me by calling my workplace twice in one day and leaving messages that indicated there was a "private" legal matter ... willing to settle out of court ... yada, yada, yada.  When I called the number, the first person I spoke with was quite rude (we had to sever business with Apex alarms because I was unemployed, and we were trimming the budget, and, because their collections agencies hounded us so relentlessly, we were just going to let the debt default and go on our credit) and indicated lawsuit papers were already filed and that they (Fisher & Burns) were preparing to take me to court.  The second person I spoke with, Richard R. Lewis, Accounts Manager, was much more friendly and was willing to set up an automatic payment schedule (twice a month) so that we would be free of the debt in 3 months, at the end of which time, Fisher & Burns would report the account as "PAID IN FULL" with the major credit bureaus.

    I do hope... replies to jcourtemanche
    ...you made him MAIL you proof that you owe that debt to him, otherwise you've probably paid a scammer.  BTW, threatening to take you to court is illegal, unless they are actually going to sue you.  Also, that address is a UPS store - no surprise there!

    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors

    Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
    Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    Complaint: This company has called my former place of business threatening to serve me papers (they spoke with the office manager, not me), they called my father at his home, and my grandmother at her home. They did not attempt to reach me via my phone number. They harassed and tried to scare my family into thinking I would be sued if I did not call back by 5pm that same day. When I called back, a person named****** ****** explained that I owed money on a credit card that I know I closed out back in 2009. He read me my full social security number, and named other items on my credit report. When I questioned where he obtained my SS# and Credit Report, he laughed and said "Because we are suing you. We own this case and all of your information." He then got defensive when I questioned the legitimacy of his call and tried to strong arm me into making a 'settlement for a fraction of the cost of legal fees'. He said that if the case goes to court, fees would be over $7,000 but if I gave him a payment of $762 today, everything would go away. When I said that believe this is in error and I've recently viewed my credit report and this was not on it, his voice started to escalate and he again told me that if I didn't pay that I would be sued. He said in a very condescending manner that "as a courtesy to me since they see I have good credit otherwise, they're making me this offer but it is only good until 5pm today" or they will sue. This has GOT to be in violation of some type of regulations. I just went and checked my credit score and this has, in fact, been settled since 2009.

    Desired Settlement: They need to stop contacting and harassing me, my family, and my place of employment. I want them investigated as to how they obtained my full social security number and credit reports.

    12/9/14
    Complaint: This company is in violation of the FTC AND THE FDACPA LAWS , Because a person from Fisher and Burns dba FISHER & FISHER FBF CALLED MY PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT and talked the owner of the company were I work and told them that they were going to serve me with court papers within the next two hours if i didn't call them, so I call, and a person named ****** ***** answer the phone and inmediatly started threatened me that if i didn't settle with her right then end there she was going to serve me with court papers within the next two hours I think these are not very good business practices , also they find an old debt that is no longer in the credit bureaus and push to settle you into "to avoid court"

    Desired Settlement: I just want them to stop harassing me and my employer

    11/17/14
    Complaint: This company has unethical collection practices. They've called my landlord in *** **** claiming they're a process server looking for me..... I can assure you I have no pending lawsuits. I called and reached a *** who was extremely rude and taunting. I informed him that his collection practice is illegal. The FDCPA clearly states you cannot tell people you are suing them if you know you can't. He laughed and said the days of collection are over. This is a new age. We do what we want when we want to. He then called my sons soccer coach about this "lawsuit". I have sent over a cease all contact request to these fraudsters but they simply don't care.

    Desired Settlement: honor my cease all contact requests and stop harassing my landlord, friends and family members.

    9/17/14
    Complaint: I feel I have received a fraudulent debt collection notice. There is no website and when you call the number it goes to an unidentified voicemail. The correspondence seems unprofessional and homemade and they claim to have my credit card on file. They want me to fax my autorization to bill my card.

    Desired Settlement: I want to know if they are legit

    Called said her names was Carolyn Caster. When I called back they didn't know her. Talked to Miles. He wanted my SSN and birthdate. Told me he worked for FS when I asked but wouldn't tell me what it stood for. Said I'd know once I got the papers that they were going to deliver. To look on page 5. They never called me or my x husband only people I knew from years ago that they said I used as a reference. Which I didn't. I told this Miles I was calling the police and would just wait for the papers to arrive. This is creapy how people get your information. Scary.
