Please beware of calls from this number stating you are being sued in a civil matter and to call another number which is 8442235464, they will provide a bogus claim/file number but cannot tell you what the matter is about. Let all your elders know and anyone else that could fall victim to this. FYI anytime someone knows your full name and address and wants to file a claim against you they will send a certified letter via mail not a phone call. The number 2406548651 is magic jack pone….Ha HA no scam on this lady – I’m not sending money anywhere – Can you send it via green dot to settle this matter wtf ummm –hangs up second time they called I stated I will alert the police.

These folks called me and told me to call this 844 number. Apparently they are claiming I had a phone service and owed money. Now here are the FACTS.First of all,I did have a landline yet it was NOT Verizon, and it was closed a long time ago. Then they claimed they had been sending me mail, yet messed up and quoted an address I never lived at and do NOT know anyone there. Then they brought up an address I was at a good decade before this alleged account,in another part of the country. Then they claimed it's on my credit report and I should have checked my report, therefore I am responsible for the balance. If you are being sued in this manner, the Marshall or Sheriff PERSONALLY serves you AND you get official papers. Before then,if you are heading towards collection or even later, the vendor will make sure they call, write, and have the SINGLE accurate address to contact you, before any further action.I'm just glad I kept my head, did not panic, and did not open myself to any more nonsense.

Star Financial. Very amateurish debt collector. No legal action is EVER initiated over the phone. Advise them to cease and desist and block their number.

Appears to be the Menifee Town shopping mall.   Just another mall-rat, kitchen-table debt scammer most likely working out of someone's house with a mail drop at the shopping mall.

The people are not scammers. Alot of people just dont like the thruth of having a debt come back to you. I personally had identity theft and they were very helpful to help get it resolved and not charge me anything.

I have had it!!!!!!!!!!!! This scam has called my cell phone on an average of 10 times a day. I received a call from a guy named Roy Keskinen at 620-259-7892 then more calls from Roy at "Consumer Locating Services" at another number 203-658-5621. I am honestly going to call the police station today to file a harassment claim to this guy, this company and anything close to it. They are threatening me and saying that I have 1 hour to call their 844-223-5464 number or else I will be in serious trouble.  I have had it, please beware and do not answer any calls from this number. I will be sending this over to the news this morning so others can be warned.

They say I owe money from 2004. I had no phone or other bills in my name. Never had sprint which is who they say they bought the debt from... They couldn't give me a service address or account number. Sprint says the number star said I had does not exist. They also told my 91 year old dad they was gonna send a sheriff to get me.

These folks called me and left a voicemail from a 201 # saying that I and a civil matter pending against me and I needed to call them back at 201 254 8774. When they left me a voicemail they didn't say my name or who the message was for. So I called the number they left and a message came on saying this was Star Financial and to press 1 tor something like that to speak with someone. Once I got on the phone they asked my name I gave it them and they said they couldn't find anything so they said what about phone number I gave it to them and they said oh here it is. Now here is where it gets interesting they had 2 of my previous addresses and my current one and they and my ex wife's name (8 years divorced now). So I thought ok maybe this could be real. They then told me that I had outstanding debt from 9 years ago with Embark ( never heard of them until today. after some digging they used to be Sprint Nextel and are now Centaury Link) and that a civil suit was being pursued against me and that I would be responsible for attorney fees of 1500 dollars and court fees of 1000 dollars and the original amount of the debt 3 hundred and something dollars if I didn't settle with a payment today. I asked the typical questions, well why haven't I gotten anything in the mail on this, why do I not recognize this debt or this account, why haven't I seen this on my credit report etc. They said that they did mail a demand later several time and the last of which was 45 days ago. So I kept asking questions and they kept deflecting or giving answers that could not be validated because I didn't get any letters or what not. So by this time I was worried that I may be sued and did not want this so I said fine I will pay but I want paperwork receipts etc. So they lady said let me speak to my manager and see what we can settle for, she came back and said they could settle for $248.65 I said fine. I paid with my credit card and they said they would email the proper documents and ended the call. As soon as I got of the phone the whole thing just didn't sit well with me so I immediately called Capital One Fraud department and told them what was going on and they called Star Financial and did a three way call with me. A guy named Tim or Tom came on claiming to be the supervisor. I began to grill him with the same questions while Capital One was on the line listening. Same sort of answers as before. So I said ok send me documentation by mail and email and I will investigate further and determine what to do later with the CC. He agreed and Capital One said ok and we ended the three way call. I then asked Capital One to make some notes on my account concerning this and I would be in touch after I did some digging. I received the paperwork on my email, Demand Letter, Release of Liability, and receipt a couple of hours later. It was on a Star Financial Firm Letterhead and said what I suppose it should have in the body of the letter and at the bottom gave a phone number and address. When I looked at the address and phone number at the bottom it really raised some red flags. The address was in CA ( same address in one of the post above ) and the phone number was 844 223 5654 (same as above). This raised red flags because the number I called was a 201 area code as was the original number that called me which is NJ. So I called the 201 number back and asked more questions specifically about the different phone numbers and address and I was told that they were different offices. So this has been bothering me all day I have been doing search after search trying to find any information on a scam like this with these people or something saying that this was a legitimate collection agency. That's when I came across this, after reading this I am convinced this was a scam and I fell for it. Not to worry I have already called Capital one back and cancelled the card and ordered a replacement and have disputed the charge as fraud or fraudulent vendor/scam. I was assured by Capital One that this was going to be reported as fraud and a investigation would ensue and my money would be returned to my CC in 3 days or so. So thank god for this site and other people who were willing to share their experience with this so that myself and others could be made aware. I don't usually post stuff online but felt I needed to here to try and help other people avoid these predatory scammers.
