- J Ciata| 11 replies(844) 234-2994 recorded outgoing message saying a claim number that I should call back. No names or company names. Press 0 for a rep or call 844-298-4709. Please advise.
- Gunnar replies to J Ciata| 6 repliesDo NOT call the number back! If a collector does not identify his company in any way with his message that collector is NOT to be trusted. This is not to say that a collector will divulge that a matter has to do with debt collection in his message. Doing so would be a violation of the FDCPA. But a legitimate collector WILL identify himself & his company. A legitimate collection agency isn't likely to be using a robo-call either. Only the lowest of the junk debt buyers & bogus debt collection outfits are prone to using those.
If you owe a legitimate debt that is overdue you already know about it. You've received plenty of mail concerning it. "Mystery" debts never materialize over the 'phone. Fraudulent debt collectors & the buffoons that work the 'phones for Junk Debt Buyers hope that you don't know that. Just keep in mind that no "debt" should EVER be paid unless it's in writing, having been received BY MAIL & has been VERIFIED along with the people collecting it!
Be Safe. Be Aware.
Gunnar - RitaI received a call from this number. (844-234-2994) and it was a recording ...they called in regards to a adept and give me a calm number then told me to press 0 to talk to someone or to call another number back this is a second time they called me and by my name
- SusanI called the FBI Fraud Unit and reported the phone # and my "CLaim" number so they can investigate. They said they will look into it. They are scammers trying to get you to pay a claim to avoid court. They pressure you saying the only way to stop the action is to pay now. Who knows how much money they have scammed from people who fear court. Sick

- Caller: Who Knows What They Call Themselves
- Call type: Debt collector
- Angry Hummingbird replies to Gunnar| 4 repliesGunnar you are so right! This is also a spoofed number! They say I owe a payday loan from 2007 {9 years ago} They are scammer slugs! I think we need to tell our Congressmen and the telephone companies to start making spoofed numbers illegal and make it harder for these bums to harass people. Every now and then they call themselves National Recovery Associates, First Recovery Associates, First Recovery Assistance, IPS, and anyother thing they think sounds "official" Everytime they call me I look the number up and then make a note and report to FCC & CFPB! Everyone do the same BUT don't answer them and don't send them money!
- Tamianth replies to Angry Hummingbird| 2 repliesThere already is a law against call spoofing, but illegal callers, criminals don't obey laws.
https://www.fcc.gov/consumers/guides/spoofing-and-caller-id - not stupid| 3 repliesThis is the same caller that has been using 844-298-4709 and 844-298-4701. I had filed a complaint with my state's District Attorney, and received a letter stating that this is a scam caller. Obviously do NOT provide them with any personal information nor any money. They are a buyer of old debts from many places which then tries to threaten people with lawsuits in order to make additional money - in clear violation of the FDCPA. This same caller is evidently under investigation by the FBI as well. Any company must notify a debtor in writing via U.S. Mail or other delivery service showing precisely what the debt alleged is for and how much the total amount of the debt it. This caller does NOT adhere to that regulation - nor do they adhere to the requirement that not more than 1 call per day be made. When voicemail is reached and a message is left, that is the one call they are allowed per day.

- Slim replies to Chrissy| 2 repliesQuote:Any suggestions? Other than do NOT answer or send ANY money!
Those are certainly viable alternatives, if there is no debt owed!
AND - get a call blocker, so your mom is not bothered by their calls. - Chrissy replies to Slim| 1 replyThat works until they change their number next week lol its just upsetting u know? The only time I had a payday loan was in 2008 but they say 2007 and it was paid off. So yeah I dont have a debt. ALSO, I have heard that after 7 years a personal debt can no longer be collected anyway!
- NDN| 5 repliesThey say they are from First Recovery. They call me every few weeks from different numbers. Is there anything I can do? I have called the police, Better Business Bureau,etc.. Even the police officer I work with called and spoke with them.
- Caller: First Recovery

- Chrissy replies to Paige Dev CorpI feel your frustration totally. I wonder if there is a way we can start a huge lawsuit for millions of dollars?
