Received a message on my dad's home phone something about a lawsuit filed with IRS.  Called the number and there was no voice mail nor did anyone answer.  Searched to number to see if valid and nothing showing up.  Seems like some type of scam.  Anyone have this happen?

Also, just received a scam call from this phone number.  Very threatening; mention of police, arrest, fraud, etc...  Melvin Baggic (or whatever your name was), may you rot for trying to scam people!!   The IRS doesn't call people, they send mail!!

We received an identical message about Irs legal petition

Had a voice mail from an individual calling himself Melvin. He stated he was "employed with the IRS." Melvin went on to say that I needed to urgently speak with him or else he would be obligated to forward official complaints to the court and county police concerning charges of IRS fraud against me. Be aware, as stated above, the IRS contacts through mail.

There is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers in both Canada and the USA.

Got call on June 23, 2014 from this #  said IRS

Received similar call from Ryan Black who claimed Melvin was his supervisor.
Plan to report incident to the Lake County States Attorney's office.

Same nonsense from Melvin.  Going to forward documents to the court, etc, etc.  He babbled for the full 30 seconds my machine allows before being cut off at the knees mid sentance....

6/23/14 Have had 2 messages from the same person Melvin to return call immediately! Called back and Daniel White finally answered the phone after a few times. Says same thing about back taxes owed to IRS and we have one hour to take care of it or its going to be reported and a lien put against the house. Definitely a scam!!

A friend of mine had the same experience as above.  I'm pretty sure the IRS doesn't tell you to go F yourself too!  Lol

Received a call from this name. A man with an Indian accent said he was calling from the IRS. My husband said if the IRS needs to talk to me, have an official agent call because there's no way he was talking to this guy.

Nope. Melvin is a fraud. He's just another scammer trying to use the "IRS Scam". His routine is so well known that the IRS has warnings about it on their website. The IRS does NOT call you unless you have called them first. They use the USPS. If you were wanted for tax evasion or fraud you'd hear about it from a federal agent...in person! And that agent will NOT have called to give you a warning!

Just received a call from "Ryan Black" also.  The call was very threatening.  Said that I should get an attorney right away because I was being audited.  Ridiculous that someone would do this.  Hope this helps someone else.

I just got a voice mail stating this is Michael Rogers from the Tax Audit Dept. of IRS Internal Revenue Service the nature of my call is just to inform you that we have issued a lawsuit against you regarding tax fraud against your name so before we go with legal matter and send this case to the court house and before you get arrested kindly call us back on our call back number the number to reach me at is 844-241-1465 I'll repeat 844-241-1465 Thank you and have a good day.
Seriously these people need to get a life. Funny how it was on the news again last night and I get a call today! IRS only send through the mail. I pray people aren't gullible to fall into their trap especially the elderly!

I received a threatening phone message from person by name Melvin who stated he represented IRS.  Left a call back # 844 241 1465.  IRS does not call. Scam.

recieved a voice mail from Melvin stating he was an IRS agent and was needing to talk with me about a legal petition concerning tax fraud. I called the number back and talked with a spanish accent male who said he was an operator for the IRS. Lots of boiler room noise in the background. The operator called me by name and asked if I was calling from my phone number which he read off. He then stated that he had to turn me over to a Deputy Tax Officer. There was a pause and then a man with a spanish accent spoke to me on the phone stating he was a Deputy Tax Officer., He said his name was Mathew Brown. I asked him how he spelled Brown to which he replied, " you don't ask me any questions. I then repeated I wanted to know how he spelled Brown, to which in a loud angry voice he stated," you [***], don't you call this number again! I once again repeated I just wanted to know the spelling of Brown. He once again called me a [***] and hung up the phone.
