Received a call and message. Someone with a foreign accent asking for someone with a name different from my own. Said he was "David Miller" and he was from "Internal Revenue Services" and that there was a lawsuit because of tax fraud and I needed to call him back before I got arrested. Scam, for sure.

Thanks for posting this.  I got the same message left on my phone.  This guy is either one really busy IRS agent or a total scam. I'm going with the second.  Hearing you have the exact same story makes me feel alot better.  I reported him to the IRS.

Same with me, but they "already" filed a lawsuit from the IRS against my mom, and will be issuing a warrant for her arrest.
I am a retired cop.  I called them back, and scared the heck out of them.
Then won't be calling back again.
    Idiot scammers and thieves.
    IRS doesn't care.

Report the Calls to the real IRS here:
•report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 800-366-4484.
•You can also file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission at FTC.gov. Add "IRS Telephone Scam" to the comments in your complaint.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

A male called ID badge 895623 and said that I had a tax fraud case against me for an audit from 2008-2012 and that I owed 985.00, that I willfully tried to defraud the IRS and if I didn't settle with the over the phone, a police officer would be at my house within 3 hours with an arrest warrant to take me to jail. I also spoke with a "supervisor" Michael Washington (spoke with an Arabic accent) ID badge 284784 who said the same thing but was unable to answer any of my questions. After asking multiple questions (very loudly), the man hung up on me.

This phony IRS legal department is a total scam, careful do not  fall in their scam, recently even they say if you do not pay the amount of  $?????? dollars cash and now we arrest you , even a poor gay paid these con artist $7000 dollars and then find out it was scam, you should know if someone owes to IRS  , IRS will officially send a letter to inform you , and even then if do not pay the amount you owe to IRS , then in court of law the judge will decide you should go to jail or not, the IRS does not have such power to do so by itself, please inform all your friends and family especially the elderly who are on SSI or other  government low income people you may know about this scam and report this scam artist to FBI as well as IRS.
he gave me two names first John Adams and second Barry Washington , I called him and I said the same thing he told me:
I am calling from legal department of IRS and there is a lawsuit against you , and if do not pay the amount you owe right away you will go to jail. he hung up on me :).   .

Got a call from a man with an accent claiming to be from the IRS.  I asked for his badge number and he gave me a phony 4 digit number. He said I owed money to the IRS for tax fraud for the years 2008-2012. If I didn't pay there would be sheriffs at my door to arrest me within a few hours.  I called the IRS and they said they to not call or send e-mails about your taxes.  They send a certified letter to your home address.  The weird thing about this call is he had my full name, home address and home phone number. When I told him I would contact my tax man he hung up the phone.

Called saying I had a lawsuit filed against me by the IRS for unpaid taxes between 2008-2012. If I didn't resolve it immediately, I'd be arrested. He wanted to stay on the phone w/me the entire time while I went to the bank for a wire transfer. When I figured it was a scam, I hung up. He called back as a police officer - same foreign voice! BIG scam

Got the same call as everyone else on my voice mail.  The same guy with the foreign accent called me last night and said he was a Microsoft technician and I had a fatal virus on my computer and he was calling to help me fix it. He insisted that I immediately go to my computer so he could walk me thru it.  Really?  This is the second call I got for that one. I told him to put me on his do not call list and he hung up. I reported this to the IRS.

My husband received the exact same call. Where do these people come from, and why are they getting away with this? I called the number back and was greeted with, "Welcome to the IRS". It was ridiculous. Totally agree that this is a scam. Unfortunately, someone may fall for it...at least initially. Maybe they don't realize that the IRS never works this way.

I received a call from a man with an Indian-type accent and when I questioned him about what address he was referring to with a supposed letter tro me about tax fraud and attempts by the IRS to locate me, he then hung up on me...a short while later another person acting as a supervisor in the IRS Washington Dc agency called me. He was practically screaming at me to listen to his accusations about tax fraud. This is a scam. I know the IRS does not do this and I would have had ten letters first from them. I said to the man, "Are you trying to keep me on the line in order to run up a bill to me?"  I was thinking that somehow they could reverse charges on my phone.. It was a scary call , but one should just try and keep their heads on straight or just let the answering machine take calls. The days of politely answering phone calls is over. Sad.

Same exact thing happened to me today! What an idiot, I told him I didn't think so and I would be calling my, CPA, attorney, and the IRS to check on this call.  I called my CPA and he was checking in to it for me... I feel bad for people who fall for this.

Mark White called from the IRS. Wanted immediate money, I could even go to CVS and get the special electronic voucher to send, but I had to stay on the line with him while I did it.
I said, sorry buddy, the IRS already paid me visit and took the money I owed right out of my back account, so the real IRS already beat you to it. LOL
He did get upset, when I said I couldn't understand a word he was saying.
He kept getting his amounts wrong that he said I owed, said they haven't told my neighbors yet. That was a good one, like my neighbors would care if I owed the IRS.
