This caller said that they are  a Debt Collection Agency, and they have filled a lawsuit against me. I'm trying to find out if this is a legitimate company or if it is a scam.

I had the same call today. What ended up happening? They called a family member and left a threatening voicemail that they are coming to my work and will require a supervisor or HR rep to witness me accepting them serving me to court.

 Received a call from this number and as I didn't recognize it, I did not answer. The voicemail they left seemed to be a recording stating that there is an important matter that needs to be discussed with the company, and to press one if I was the person they were trying to contact or press two otherwise. I've researched both company and the phone number. All I could find on the number were a few sites like this forum where people discussed similar calls, and as for the company itself, all I found was a Facebook page that had one update in January and before that no updates since August of 2012. Based on that and the other stories on here, I'm inclined to believe this is a scam. Also what is highly suspicious is the fact people have reported they're being threatened that someone from the company would be there to serve them papers, which I believe is typically done by someone empowered by the court, like a Process Server, and a state Sherriff or deputy.
 If this were a legitimate attempt to collect on a debt, I would be inclined to believe that there would by ANY information about the company online. The phone number itself doesn't even yield a result that it's associated with any company, just scam forums which is pretty suspect to me. Has anyone had any follow up with this, or has anyone been able to find any other information?

I just got a phone call from this number stating that Discover credit card sought them out on a settlement against me for a credit card I opened up in April 2009/for $596. I have never had a Discover credit card. He told me if I didn't settle with him over the phone hr would get courts involved. I told him that in my time traveling in the Military my identity was stolen and several things were taken out against me and then I filed with BBB years ago to resolve it and that if he could mail me the information I would look into it. He then said 'you're prior military?' And hung up on me. I called back and was hung up on again. Yeah.

The whole part with "getting HR involved" makes no sense to me, as any Human Relations depart for any employer would have little to do with any kind of lawsuit. But that aside, one of the biggest red flags that someone is trying to scam you is that they demand payment right then. From what I understand about collection agencies is that they want to collect the debt and will set up payment plans. Everything about this screams scam.

That is the Facebook page that I found, and the business information is new, but there are still zero results for the business itself. Also the Facebook page existed prior to the filing date listed here, which may or may not be of note. But even still there seems to be virtually no information about a company attempting to get people to give them money and threatening legal action.

I have received these calls and I have also received emails out taking me to court - I ignored them and they finally get calling and texting
