- RM| 1 replyRecorded message left on my husbands phone with a claim number. Had a call with the same message from a simular phone number last week. I did not call back after searching the number online. I'm so sick of scammers, I'm going on 3 years of this garbage!!
- AnonymousAuto dialed call to my home phone looking for my brother. I clicked to talk to an operator to have my number removed and while talking to her (Maggie) she new my name and said I was listed with my phone number as a contract person. Since my home phone number is new and my brother doesn't even know I have a home number I have to assume this is a scam.
- SNSPrerecorded/auto call requesting a specific person in the household and say they have a claim#. They don't say what company or leave a contact name. Scam or not...unprofessional. Not calling back. My wife was involved in an accident recently and I'm curious if this is what got her name onto this "list."
- JS| 1 replyGot a call from this number today. I never answer calls from numbers I don't recognize, however they left a message with a claim #. After researching them on the net I was curious to find out exactly what personal info they had on me. I called and immediately started asking questions, name of company, location, name of person I was speaking to etc. Every answer was made up on the spot, I spoke to "Kathy" and the name of the "company" is MCO. That's it. Simply MCO and they are located in Miami, FL. I gave my "claim number" and she proceeded to read off of a script which told me that I took out an "internet loan" on February 27, 2013 for $300, but now the amount was up to $480 and if I didn't pay up immediately I would be taken to court. After informing "Kathy" that they are all over the internet as a bunch of scam artists she got very nasty indeed. I demanded to know the full name and address of the company and also demanded to have all of this information in writing, and I wanted it MAILED to me. She then proceeded to tell me they would only email it (which of course she did have my email address) but when I insisted she tell me what my physical address was she hung up on me. SCAM, SCAM, SCAM!!!!! Do NOT give these people any personal info or money!!!

- Tonym.I keep getting a call from this number. They say I got a pay day loan in 2013 and never paid it. I have never taken out a loan and I told the guy this. He informed me '' I don't want to call you a liar"" but how would I know your name, address, and phone no. I told him any idiot could Google anyone's name and it would pull up! At this point he tells me he's sending a sheriff to my job and or home and so I really want this embarrassment. He said just give me a credit card now to keep from accuring court fees etc. I told him sue me! Now they call 4 or 5 times per day and leave a message. The guy states he's with MCO collections. 100%scam fraud. Please be aware!

- Rick MI received a call from the number 844-279-7429 and I didn't answer the phone at the time but the person left a message stating they have a claim #. I called the number back and the girl kept trying to get me to giver her information via my social security number. I wouldn't give any information and told her that I am not verifying anything until she tells me what this is about. She said that they have a claim # and a company is trying to take me to court for a pay day loan that was taken out in 2013 and funded into a Chase bank account. I told her that is COMPLETELY wrong and told her I have not taken out any pay day loan and don't have a Chase bank account. She proceeded to tell me that I did. I hung up the phone and immediately called my layer. My layer said that it definitely sounds like this is a SCAM and not to provide any information or speak with them again. Unfortunately, I do not remember the name of the company the girl said she was with. She was foreign and had a very strong accent. I was very hard to understand her at times. THIS IS A SCAM! DO NOT SPEAK WITH THESE PEOPLE OR GIVE ANY INFORMATION TO THEM!
- TheCallGuyThis number called my fax line looking for the previous owner. The caller left a recorded message talking about a claim of some sort. I plan to ignore the message and not call back because it's not even for me, and it's most likely the scam attempt of the day.

- Sherri Watson| 1 replyI have gotten three calls from saying that I will be taken to court for a pay day loan with this company. Since I have never dealt with this company, I feel that I had gotten scam. On pay day loans the returning money that you borrow has to come out of a active checking account. So no matter what they are paid back. This happened back in 2012, it's now 2015. I tell them go ahead and take me to court, this was not my loan.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans
Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010 FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691
The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.
According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.
The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

http://www.fraud.org/ - Devona JesseeAutomated calls with a claim # asking for a call back. No other information left in the message. They also called my Dad and used my maiden name which I haven't used in 14 years so I know this has to be a scam.
- SZ replies to RMMy message says: "This is a message for Barb Clark. If you are not Barb Clark please hang up now." Then it goes on to give me a claim number. They call at least twice a day. I'm ready to give up my landline because of all the garbage calls I get.
- BigALots of complaints on the net about this criminal enterprise. BBB reports the number is disconnected.
This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your work place repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying. They also use the “process server” who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
