Okay this is the second time they have called - was really weird it did not call my number it left a voice mail.  This Lisa Williams left message with name of another person they are looking for stating they will come to their house and to have ID available.  I called the number that was left and they did not know a Lisa Williams and my number did not come up in their system.  They had to look up by name of person they were looking for and it was an old case!!  Told them I was reporting this to lawyer, this site and BBB that people that do not work for them are calling and threatening people on a message for a company that they do not even work for.  So not sure sounds like a spam!  The company was SW mediation.

My husband just got a call from this number too. I called our county and they have never heard of this Lisa lady so I called this number and it was that same company they told you they were but they kept stuttering and all of a sudden "had a bad phone connection" when I told them I did my research on the number and was going to report them...but the thing that got me was they wanted me to give them the personal info to "verify" who my husband was but would give me no info about their company

First I got a call from an unknown number and the man told me he was a process sever for Harris County Court House and had papers to serve me. I said from who he said I don't know it only shows a number. He gave me the 844-299-4385 number and said I has to call them. I called and spoke with a man there by the name of Anthony St (Saint) John he said I owed a debt to Freedom cash lenders( which I do) he said that the only way to stop the litigation is to pay them money. Has this happened to anyone else?

This is a scam call.  REAL process servers do NOT call you and ask you to call another number.  They just serve you - that's all they're paid to do.

Per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to mail - do not accept email or fax - proof of debt/proof the caller has the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to mail this documentation within five days of their first contact with you is a violation of federal law.  In other words, no written, verifiable proof mailed that you owe them money, then per the FDCPA, you should not pay!

Thank you for the info. They called with an unknown number said that they were the process server. I asked who the litigation was from and they told me they didn't have any information and couldn't stop me from being served. The only I for they had was the phone number of 844-299-4385. It does sound like a scam to me. But, I do know that I owe this company that they are collecting for. Should I still report them?

First since you know you owe someone, contact the original creditor and find out who is now handling your account.  Deal only with that company.  Second, process servers never call and papers cannot be issued for service without a valid service address however they may have a former address if you had one at the time the debt was incurred. So again, deal with the company the original creditor tells you is handling your account. However, before you agree to any payments with the company handling your account request a debt validation notice sent via US Mail, email and fax are not acceptable. A legitmate debt collector will provide that to you after they verify you are the person who does owe the debt.  Just be careful of bogus debt collectors who are not legally the ones who can collect.

Yes - they're attempting to scam people, so you should definitely report them, and as Mike in MD said - contact the original creditor that you owe and see if they've sold the account for collections.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I hate when they try to bully you into to paying money that you don't have to pay. I am not really sure if they can take me to court for $1000.00 though. I am just worried about them saying that they were going to take me to court. But, if its going to happen I am sure that it just will happen anyway.

    Thanks again.

We received a call from a "private caller". They left a message with the call back # of 844...I called the 844...number and told them they left me a message for a person who does not live here and never did. I don't know this person. I said they need to stop calling me and leaving messages and next thing I know, there is a dial tone! I DO NOT owe money to anyone. They keep leaving messages for a person who I don't even know!

I got a call from a private number and didn't answer. They left a voicemail and I listen to the voicemail and it was a guy saying that he was serving me papers on Friday and I need to have two forms of ID ready and to sign.he left a call back number of 844 2994385 and David Johnson answer and explain to me I owed a debt which I do but the total was completely wrong and he said I owed far more money then I really do. I asked who they bought the debit from and he told me and I called the company and they gave me the correct total and a completely different company they sold it to. I called said company they gave me and the totals match the total they had. I've come to the conclusion that David Johnson is a scam artist and his number is

I think theyre real they helped me settle a debt I had and I thought they were a scam as well until a uniformed officeer and courrier went to my aunts house looking for me so I called and acted like i didnt know about them sending a process server to my aunts house and they helped me. I EVEN WENT back to ace and got another loan and they gave me all the numbers i needed to verify that they were legit starting with ace's direct #. I think people that dont know this is real is gonna be looking like my sister when they had the IRS garnish her ssi check and paycheck last year because she never filed the loan on her taxes as unearned income. SMH but i bet it wont be me.
