threaten me too  fraud if I do not pay from 1-844-332-1172
they only accept money from a debit or credit card.  will not allow you to mail money in.
will not give you a street address either.
How can I report this scam to authorities.  anyone out there know?

no name or company's name and funny how there's no prompt for the extension number
given ext. 132 for a Page Johnson.  That's what she calls herself  when she calls

Help!!! I keep getting calls

It appears to be a debt scam of some kind.  Typical of scam debt collectors.  They  go around making all kinds of threats.  And of course they never ID themselves so you can independently check out their claims.  But this is an attempt to scare you into paying them something. DO NOT DO IT.  DO NOT SEND THEM ANY MONEY OR AGREE TO.  

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.
Of course they won’t do this, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.  If you can find them.

Keep getting calls on my cell phone..they are even texting messages saying I owe them .  They have messages on my phone that this is from the "arbitration dept" of MAC in regards to an out of court payment plan arranged.  I cancelled my debit card before they could strike and reported it to BBB and my bank.  Now there's a message to make restitution  and a case number.  I think my best bet is to have a credit report run for myself and see if this legal.    I keep hearing that this is fraud.

I keep getting calls from this number, they say that I owe a cash advance, I asked where did I supposedly get this cash advance from?  They told me it was a company called GTI Holding, I looked this company up and called the number provided and of course the number was out of order, if I truly owe the money, I will pay it, but I can't contact anyone and no one can tell mw when this account was actually opened. They have minimal information and when you question and want proof they threaten you with legal actions. So I Google the number and I found that this was a SCAM!!

Ok Folks a few things to note here.  I work in the judicial system in Washington DC and these people who call like this are SCAMMERS. DO NOT GIVE THEM AND DETAILS NOR ANY MONEY!  This number is spoofed (not actually from where you think its from) and could be coming from another country, My guess is India as most of the people have Indian Accents.  If its a holding company which this one sometimes says it is then, it means its trying to recoup money.  There are so many Scams out there today its impossible to name them all, but here's but a few of the scenarios.

The caller says you have won a free education.
The caller wants to know if you have any health issues
the caller wants to know if you had any recent surgeries
the caller wants to know if you have a lawsuit pending
The caller is looking for someone named (insert name here) because they have won money
the caller is looking for someone named (insert name here) because they are in danger of being sued and they need this persons statement before they make a decision.
the caller says (a members name in your family) is in jail and they need to speak to you

I am guessing after all this you are getting the point of what I am saying. They always preface this with they need your social security number to validate who you are and a few more pieces of information (they already have so much on you because they have called you already-- they just need a few more bits to complete the file)

The best I have heard in my office is  they are calling because they say they can not find you. This is Crap as the sheriff, will NEVER, EVER call you to tell you they are coming. They live to work on the element of surprise. Plus if your township, county etc, wants you, they already know where you are, so sit tight.

Most important, NEVER CALL these low life bottom feeders back.  Because truth be known they don't care who they talk to as long as they can get money from someone. It doesn't even have to be the right person. If you call them back then they know that they have a real tangible working phone number that they can call to harass you all the time of day and night.  Just ignore the call, or better yet, tag them as a spam call in your phone, and you'll never even see them ring it.

Third, these people function and live on the *Fear factor* they will say anything,  tell you anything to get you to give them the money thru your checking account, debit card or credit card.  Many people get scammed this way. I've heard : coming to your workplace to arrest you, serving you in the morning if you don't call by a certain time, attaching your salary, etc, etc, this is all nothing but crap.

A good idea is to never answer a call from someone you don't know. If its important they will leave a message. If you are really being sued, they will file in your county and you will know, you won't get a phone call about it either.  You can also go online and check to see if you are being sued by anyone by going to your local courthouse, there is a search engine there.

One more thing I know it sounds nice to send them a letter or report them, but this is a futile. They have got this to a science.  With all that is going on in court system they know they have time on their side.  Not enough of these low life bottom feeders get caught and prosecuted, if they did...they wouldn't still be in business, but they are, thousands of them.

"One more thing I know it sounds nice to send them a letter or report them, but this is a futile."  Why would you want to discourage people from filing a report.  Since this seems to be a debt collector scam, reporting them to the proper agencies may help in putting them out of business.  Discouraging people from making a report sounds really suspect, and not something that I would think an "legal secretary" would make.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
