Some lady named nicole said I had a claim number against me and to contact her then said good luck before getting off the phone. Not sure but I feel this is a scam.

Sounds like a scamming debt collector to me too.   That phrase "good luck" is a dead giveaway.

Fraudulent or Zombie Debt Collectors—Things to Know

If you have received a call stating:

1. You have defrauded a financial institution
2. You owe an unpaid payday loan
3. You have a warrant due to an unpaid loan
5. You will receive a court summons
6.  Authorities are coming to arrest you
7.  Anything similar to above,
 a.   Do not give them any information or verify any information for them
 b.   Tell them you know they are a scam operating illegally and that you are   filing a complaint with the  appropriate authorities
* File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage     http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
* File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in
The more information and complaints there are, the better the chance of getting these criminals to stop (or at least reduce the frequency).    [abstracted from another site]

How can anyone have a "claim number" against them.   Total mumbo-jumbo that the debt scammers try to scare you with.

Jeremy called me and said I owed an old debt they bought from a company for $480. When I asked more details about it he said finally told me the company name of Riverside which I had never had any loan through a company by that name. He continued to become rude with me when I asked for details to be sent to me to validate the claim. He refused to send the info to me but said once paid then he would send me paperwork. Right. He told me good luck after I told him I would not be scammed by them.

Monday,July 21,2014 @1443 hrs and 1452 hrs. Some lady by the name of Nichole Smith called my cell and place of emploment. She stated this claim#3020640 came across her desk and it was necessary for me to contact her. She never did give the name of the company. It is a scam and I have seen her name before from other postings.

The following message was left on my voice mail. I have no outstanding debts so this is must be a scam.

This is Jason contacting you regarding a file that was submitted to my office this morning. I need to verify information so you have the opportunity to address the claim that's against you.. You're required to contact our firm to discuss a voluntary resolution to the matter. We can be reached at 8444133777. Claim number listed on this file again it's 3009807. You have officially been notified."  

Received a call from the same number, a Jeremy. He left a message saying the same thing. Think it's a scam. Never heard of this company.

I receive calls on my cell phone 2-3 x week for some man named Ben Jacob.
I have owned this phone # since 12/01/2013, the calls started in June of this year.
Sometimes it's a woman saying blah,blah you've been notified good luck or we need to meet to sign important papers blah,blah.  
Now I have a rude man calling for the same individual, pretty much the same speech.  But..
In the message today, he said if I wasn't Mr Jacob (which I'm not) I was to call him so he could take my phone # off there file #30094567.
I've blocked there # but some how they get through.

OK, I got a call at my office from someone looking to settle a claim, #3010250. Said I have been called to settle violation and to call back. I did call and they said they were a firm, named UPG. I asked what they did, they said a firm, I asked what business, they said if you're not so and so, which I wasn't, then they had no business with me. Not polite at all. So, I suspect they are a collection agency.

Payday scams all of them. Block their calls and call attorney general. Tell them they have been served.

I have received  several harrowing calls myself.  Their address is 225 Great Arrow Ave.  #23 Buffalo, NY 14207_3027. Send them a certified  letter that contains your name, address, and phone numbers, stating that you request a cease and desist.  That means that you are  basically  telling them to stop communication with you. If they continue to call, you can then file a complaint against them with the attorney general. That's what I'm in the process of doing now because they have started calling me at work after I requested them to stop.  Good luck.

Relentlessly calls and verbally abuse debtors. Uses scare tactics to try to collect debt.

Yeah got the same call as everyone else here regarding a debt from a company I have never heard of. Reported them to the FTC, NY State Attorney General and had my attorney serve them regarding fraudulent business practices. Needless to say, I never heard from them again.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
