They called and said they have a criminal case against me and I would be severed papers at my job and my home address unless I call and get this matter resolved. I called my local court house and gave them the case number the caller gave me and the court house said that case number does not exzist. They said it was a scam. Alot of people have been calling asking about this. So I am not the only one.it doesn't show on my called ID who called it just says unknown number. The court house said do not call them back they down load your phone to a computer and get all your information.

I received a call from this number and they knew EVERYTHING about me! My address, my work, my bank, my Social Security Number! They said I had taken a "Pay Day Loan" out in 2011, four years ago in the amount of $450 and my last payment check had bounced. If I wanted to settle out of court I could for around $1,000 or if I went to court it would end up costing me $3,000! I had to decide by 6pm that day and it was 4pm already. I was freaking until my friend at work told me that her husband got the very same call from that area code telling him the very same thing almost but tailored to him. Almost immediately I started receiving numerous snail mails about getting loans! My friend advised me to contact police about this. That is what her husband did.

What should I do?? They called me too had my SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER! I don't know what to do this is crazy I've never taken a loan out in my life.

This is (one of many) criminal extortion scams that have been going on for years. Many are operating overseas and out of the reach of US law enforcement, while others are operating within the confines of prison cells here in the US, using contraband cell phones. Others are using VOIP. Either way, they are able to disguise their identities and locations, making them next to impossible to prosecute. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting victims' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

I just received a call from this number on my work phone, not asking for myself but asking for another employee of the same job with the same last name as me.  Before I alerted my boss that they were looking for him, I looked the number up on here.  I don't know how they knew to contact me to find this guy, but I will say that I won't be calling this number back if they are into extortion.

My dad got a call from 844-414-4866 asking for my mom.  They have not been married for over 15 years.  He gave me the “case number”  and phone number to call them back, just in case.  He was already suspicious.  So I called pretending to e my mom and they gave me her social.  Bad form.  If you’re for calling to tell me there is fraud against me then don’t tell me my social, have me repeat it to you (dumb @$$).  Stark Law Firm Chicago Ill on Odeon Ave (or something like that). Be careful and report these peeps.

I received two sets of calls two months apart. One to my mother and the other to my sister in law. I have both last names. Got the same story there is a case against me and gave a claim #. Do not call back!!! I made this mistake and they panicked as soon as I mentioned having my lawyer contact them. Then Said they would report it as fraud or mistake. Complete scam! Told me I owed 3 different amounts during a 2 minute phone call.

Who knows where they got your social security number.

They might have gotten it from a hack on an insurance company website.

They might have gotten it from hacks on college student databases. I remember reading, about 10 years ago, that the University of Texas student enrollment database had been copied. That's over 50,000 names for just one semester.

When I was a university student in the late 1970s (Lamar University), the administration printed out a list of every student with name, address, and social security number. The on-campus police department had a copy. I found this out when I worked for a while at the campus newspaper. They had a copy of their own. Each college department also had a copy. A new one was printed each semester. Over 10,000 students enrolled each main semester so that was a lot of continuous-form computer-sheet pages, printed on one side only. I figure most universities did the same thing in those days.

You no longer have any control of who has your Social Security Number.

Health records are huge targets for fraudsters because they typically contain all of the information thieves would need to conduct mischief in the victim’s name — from fraudulently opening new lines of credit to filing phony tax refund requests with the Internal Revenue Service. Last year, a great many physicians in multiple states came forward to say they’d been apparently targeted by tax refund fraudsters, but could not figure out the source of the leaked data. Chances are, the scammers stole it from hacked medical providers like PST Services and others.

In March 2015, HealthCare IT News published a list of healthcare providers that experienced data breaches since 2009, using information from the Department of Health and Human Services. That data includes HIPAA breaches reported by 1,149 covered entities and business associates, and covers some 41 million Americans. Curiously, the database does not mention some 80 million Social Security numbers and other data jeopardized in the Anthem breach that went public in February 2015 (nor 11 million records lost in the Premera breach that came to light in mid-March 2015).

Fake number and they got my social security number

A Miss Brown, with "Stark Law, just called my brother looking for me.  I returned the call.  She claimed that I had a $500 Payday loan from Fox Enterprises in 2011.  I owed over 2000 dollars, but for about 700 all proceedings will stop. She told me to hold all questions until the end of her speech.  When I started asking questions, she did not want to answer any of them. Then she asked how I want to proceed- I said I did not because I do not have a loan outstanding.  She then told me that the "Judge" will decide.  Previously, she had said the lead attorney would handle it.  She then hung up.  Ask questions during her patter, it will fluster her and be lots of fun for you!

So I received the exact phone call stating the thing the reprsentative named was Marilyn King !!. Told me in had a fraudulent check from 2011 that was $300 dollars but had to pay 800 by 3pm. Not sure how she gotten my information. What strike me was the fact that when I call back you could honestly hear a lot of phones ringing as if it was a company she was working for.

Got a voice mail with an urgent matter from Scott Davis, saying that if i did not contact them they would call my work and home. .   Had my friend who is an attorney contact them asking where this was.."Stark Law" was the reply and what kind of law they practice ; the response was "I don't know".  Gave the case number and the person came back saying the person you asked to speak to is not available.  My friend said that she didn't ask to speak to anyone.  Then they asked again who she was and said she is the legal representative of the person you are looking for.  They said good bye and hung up!

Received same phone call.  They used my full name in the VM they left me about an "urgent" matter and that if I didn't call them back they would have to come to my place of employment or residence to find me.  Real bill collectosr do not physically track you down.  SCAM!!!!  Do not call them back.  Once you call them back that just confirms to them that they have an active phone number to keep calling on.  Real bill collectors send you legal documents in the mail.

These jokers just now called my parents house looking for me under my maiden name (I have been married for 17 years) and I have not lived at my parents house for 20 years.

Got a voice mail from Some Lady  " Harris "  from Stark Law firm.. very hard to understand.. saying :  this is a legal matter and something about  imprisonment. And giving a Case #  also mentioning  they will contact my employer, which they did before the messages.    I have already reported to Credit bureaus, bank, SSA and employer.
they don't stop, I am receiving this calls for more than 6 months !

I received the same urgent message from Lori Davis - wonder if it's his wife?  Haha :)  Lori also called my mom and asked for me by my maiden name when 5 minutes before she left the message for my married name.

Gina I got the same call...Twice from Different phone numbers..this is crazy...
