Received a phone message that stated they were from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas (my health insurer); they wanted to thank me for renewing my plan (which was true) and wanted to review some benefit information with me.  Since they are my health insurer, I returned the call.  "Richard" answered and asked for my name ... rather unusual since they usually ask for member ID number.  He then stated he couldn't find my account and wanted to ask me more information in order to go over my benefits with me.  With that I said if he couldn't find my account, I was not going to give him any information and he rather easily gave up.  I then called BCBS, and they said they had no record of having called.

I just received a phone call from 1-844-447-8482...supposedly...Blue Cross Blue Shield. The man asked for my birthdate & my primary care doctor's name...I told him that I didn't trust that he was from BCBS if he didn't have that info. He was polite but, gave up the call easily when I questioned him.

I just received the same phone call. Caller asked me to verify my birth date. I did not. I called BCBS and learned they could not verify that 844-447-8482 is a valid BCBS phone number. They further informed me that asking any kind of personal information on an outgoing call is not a legal practice for BCBS or any other company.

Got the same call. Caller ID just said Toll Free Call.  Said she was from BCBS and asked to verify my DOB. I said no and told them to not call here again.

Caller ID showed "toll free call".  Caller hung up when answering machine came on.  Left no message.  Complaint filed with do not call registry and with the local FBI offices.

Left a very creepy message on my voicemail of someone with a raspy voice groaning. Do not pick up the phone.

I just checked my bank account online and found two transactions listed as 844-447-8251 Healthwise, one for a buck and the other a nickle shy of five bucks have been processed! Beware

Received call from female who said she was with Blue Cross Insurance in San Antonio and called me by my first name, she also had the last 4 digits of my insurance card and my mailing address.  She wanted to know my date of birth.  I said you should already have that information and did not respond.    Called phone # on back of insurance  card and and they  did have any information about the people who called.

Knew my address and year of birth and claims they are Blue Cross blue shield.  They wanted me to answer a survey for $200.  I asked for a call back number because he would just be fishing for inf.

I don’t answer numbers I don’t know... so it went voicemail... (this has happened twice) the first tim was a lady second time a man... they were thanking me for becoming a member of blue cross blue shield (I do not have any form of insurance so... big red flag) and they have some speil about their engagement specialists being ready to assist me...

I called Customer Service with Blue Cross and referenced this phone number.  They said that they did not recognize this phone number, did not know who these folks were, and to not give them any personal information.  So, I added them to the Block List on my phone.

I too received a call from this number.  I called BCBS of Texas at the number listed on the back of our card, customer service.  I asked them about this specific number.  She said they have a lot of vendors that may call from different numbers.  I asked her to call the number and see if it is legit because I have no way of knowing.  She was very nice and did just that.  Turns out it is legit.  It is a survey, welcoming people new to the plan.  They block their number and I didn't like that.  But I did find out from BCBS that you do not have to take the survey.  So we declined.

‭ +1 (844) 447-8482  is a suspect a scam or fraud.

Early this year, during a period when I was having a painful health issue and getting several  referrals to specialist this number call left a similar professional sounding message like those described in earlier comments.

Like today’s call (1) the callback  number was the same number being placed from, and (2) it was NOT a number on my insurance card or other insurance information.

If there’s any question BCBS advises call the customer service number on the back of the insurance card. If it’s a legitimate call there’s a record in the BCBS system and the representative will be able to redirect your call to the appropriate person.

Luckily I remembered, and telephoned the customer service number on my insurance card, the customer service rep had no record of the number being a BCBS number,  nor was there a  record of anyone from BCBS contacting me.

The "Blue Cross Blue Shield" SCAMMERS have started using THIS NUMBER AGAIN.  Somehow they KNEW my name but immediately asked me to "verify" information the REAL BC/BS would ALREADY HAVE!

Said they are calling as part of BlueCross. Asked for my birthdate, and said that they would provide my Insurance number so I could see that they were legit.  But would not say anything further about what dept or aspect of BCBS they represented.  I told them to contact me by mail.
