Won't tell me and threatened me.

Did anything happen after?

So far 2 people have posted and neither one has provided enough information to help anyone or to offer advice.  That person posted here in March and I doubt they will be back.

I received a call yesterday but they wouldn't tell me anything about their company name or where they were located so I figured it's a scam and hung up.

Got a message on my answering machine. It was called "the state legal services" or so they said. They had a file number and was looking for my sister.  Saying they have a summons for her with court. And that they would be over tomorrow to serve her. Thing is my sister lives two hours away and sure doesn't live with me. I called them. They didn't tell me much except for they had the right address but my number was the only one they could find in file to call to tell her they were coming. Still confused. So this morning I called them. And it says when the phone picks up" we are away from our desk or with another client leave your message with your file number and we will get back to you". Still no answers as to what the heck this is???

Got a message from this person Tina Clark stating that she was from "Legal Servicing" She stated that there was a summons issued by "Santa Clara" and that she would be at my home the next day between 12 - 2 to serve me and that if I wasn't there that she would come to my "place of employment" and human resources would be notified and a supervisor would have to witness me sign for the summons. I attempted to call the phone number provided back from my office phone which is "blocked" (govt phone) and no one will pick up it just says they are busy with a client and to leave a file number and good phone number and name and they will get back with me.

I called them back and asked to know who is trying to serve me.  They said they are going to take me to court for attempt to fraud for and old credit card.  It's a real debt that I would like to settle, but they said it was past that time and they had to deliver papers.  Since I am homeless,  I asked them to hold so I could give them my therapists address to meet me.  They hung up and now put me on hold whenever I call back.  I think they are trying to scare me saying they would come to my place of employment and that I will be charged inabsentia of they can't find me. I want to make good on this debt and I will as soon as I can.   I'm thinking they use the scare tactics to try and get you to pay something.  Since I had nothing, when I called back,  they didn't pick up,  just left me on hold.

These scam artists called my step dads phone today saying that there's a case against me for SSI fraud. Gave him a case number # 129-1293 and 844-464-7042. I told it it's a scam artist but he believes it's real. Seriously they called him but not me? With skip trace agents they would call the person in question first in my experience from working for 2 cc companies in my past.  Google is not that hard to use, even a kid can use Google. Duh!! So this Lisa Clark, if that's even her real name, is trying to scam people on old and very old debts. FYI for everyone here,  if a debt is 7 years old or older it's supposed to be removed from the credit report. Check your state laws also regarding debt and collection of debt. If they threat to get a lien on your home or car you may in some cases sue them. These debt collectors are nothing but bottom feeders trying to make money on written off debts that they pay pennies on the dollar for. I would think these dumb [***] would be a little better with their scam and know the right information. I'm a victim of gangstalking so I always research any number that calls me. I'm angry they called my step dad and fooled him. They deserve a [***] beating just for doing that.

Got a call from a private number ( I'm ALWAYS suspicious of private numbers ) called twice back to back ! Left a voicemail message " This is Tina Clark from the  Department of Legal Services ! " Ohhhh sounds official !  " She addressed me by my first name and last four of my social. She then said " This is to inform you that you MUST make yourself available at home tomorrow between the hours of 12pm and 2pm to receive a summons to appear in court ( named a neighboring county ) to answer a complaint filed by the petitioner. ( No name given )  " You may feel free and it is STRONGLY advised that you contact the petitioner at 844-464-7042 to discuss the charges against you " If we do not receive a "stop order" from the petitioner and you do not sign for the summons we will contact your employer and their HR department will have to witness and sign for the summons.  BULL CRAP !

 This is a well orchestrated pitch but it's illegal as hell ! First, don't be excited that you might be in trouble.  Let's dissect the conversation.  She calls from a BLOCKED number. ( RED FLAG # 1 ) Nobody, whether its a court or an attorney's office calling you with proper legal information will call from a blocked number. SECOND. Bill collectors use phony names and almost ALWAYS a generic and one syllabic name like Smith, Brown, Green or Clark.  THREE, The Department of Legal Services. Sounds official right ?  But its generic. Not the Springfield District Attorneys office, or the Plymouth Court House or the Jones County Sheriff's Office.  It doesn't NAME a real location.  You know any attorney's office can be a " Department of Legal Services " lol. FOUR. They address you by partial name and part social, That's to make you THINK it's for real. A real legal issue they would address you by full name and never a social number. FIVE. "You must make yourself available between 12pm and 2pm" NO one, nowhere will make an appointment for you to be served with a legal notice. They KNOW you will try to avoid it so they try to surprise you !  SIX.  " To answer a complaint filed by a petitioner "  WHO ? They dont name the aggrieved party !  Not real. ( and keep this in mind, if it WAS a petition filed by somebody, it would be a CIVIL complaint, NOT criminal so you would NOT be arrested. )  SEVEN.  " feel free to contact the petitioner at 844-464-7042 "  It's NOT a local number it's a TOLL FREE NUMBER ( ATTENTION: You cannot block your number when calling a toll free number ) they WILL see it !  Toll free numbers actually pay for the call even if you initiate it and by law they are entitled to your number.  EIGHT. If it were a legal matter for the courts they would NEVER tell you to talk with the other party., NEVER !  NINE. A stop order ?  What's that ? Sounds official but there is no such thing in a civil filing.  TEN. If you dont sign for the summons we will contact your employer, Can't not allowed nor would your employer or your HR be made to "witness and/or sign anything, nope.  ( Its funny, I dont HAVE an employer or and HR department ) LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!

If you get a similar call, First dont panic. Second don't say ANYTHING ( they take notes ) Take a breath, write down all you remember of the call and they go to the internet and RESEARCH it , just like you did coming here. If you got a voicemail, SAVE it, An investigator may need it later.  Contact your state's Attorney General and make a complaint, They can't do anything about it if you don't tell them.

SPECIAL NOTE: When they didn't get me to answer they called my daughter's cellphone. Yep, they have extensive date bases on everyone, The NSA doesn't have anything like a bill collector.   So don't be surprised if your family or friends get calls from " Tina "  They will try to glean information from them even though it's illegal as hell.

This Tina Clark persona has a history on 800notes and calls from a variety of numbers using basically the same scam.  Ignore and block the calls.
