just got the same call today. "recording left says its not a sale call"

THIS AGENCY IS A DEBT COLLECTOR HUNTER WARFIELD. They were to call my personal cell phone looking for this dood i have no idea who it is i call back to have them remove my number they said its not in their system. They also don't allow non-company recording of calls which is a violation of the Consumer Protection Act Of 2005 which says that if they record the call you can too and you have their permission to record the call since they technically gave it to you because the call is being recorded on their end all you have to do is disclose that you are recording the call. They would also violated the Consumer DO NOT CALL Regulations where any call placed to a mobile device and is deemed unwarranted is an illegal call. THIS AGENCY IS NOW IN THE PROCESS OF LOSING THEIR PHONE SERVICE FOR MULTIPLE FCC REGULATION VIOLATIONS. ISSUE BEEN FORWARDED TO THE ABUSE TEAM OF THEIR SERVICE PROVIDER AND THE US ATTORNEYS OFFICE

thank you very much for that help. I feel better armed to handle the situation, assuming there is one there to handle and their claim probably is bogus. I have no loans or credit cards and haven't been to the hospital since I have no  health insurance.

I just received a call form that number and googled it to see who it was.. Your comments came up.  They care calling me  too so we are in the same boat.   That said  I am a past owner of a Commercial Collection agency and you are way misinformed. So wither get an education before you speak out or just keep your dumb misinformation to yourself .

1. a company can record calls in all one part consent states. In 2 party states they must announce it.  There is much more to the regs but I just want to dispell your myths.  2. a commercial collection agency does not have to follow the same rules as a consumer agency. They can call you ..your mother .. your bother.. your neighbors and tell all you are a deadbeat.. All legal .. They can call at all hours of the day and night  also..

GET INFORMED

I just got the same call today and they gave me a reference number and said to call Monday-Friday 8AM-8PM. They also said that "This is not a sales call and an attempt to collect a debt". I ALWAYS look up unknown numbers on the internet first to see if they have been reported as scams before I call anyone back. So thank you very much for what I already felt was a scam and also thanks for the information on The Consumer Protection Act of 2005 about recording calls without my permission. I knew that this could not be done but could never think of the act that this pertained to.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Everything you just posted was wrong.

This number called for a neighbor who gave my address I believe to a car dealership! I checked to sed if they could get my number via my address, yep they sure can because I tried it! So tomorrow morning im calling them and letting them know that jerk has never lived here nor ever had this number!  Its my (deceased) mother in law's house that we inherited and same phone number she has for like 20 some years! The jerk is in his early 20's so it definitely wasn't his number! He didn't have permission to use this address either! Ggrrrrr...,, rant over til morning when I call them!

Hey know it all.  I wouldn't talk about being so smart when u can't even spell and the fact that your a past debt collector says something. Every debt collector is different and seem to have their own rules and even those that claim to be law abiding are not because many of us don't know the rules and fall for their threats. I think u were a little harsh on chip considering he knows what has been told him,  and many of us. U didn't need to be rude because he's not a "pro"?!? like u. Maybe  u can try  some constructive words next time instead of misspelled insults so we can all learn from u if, in fact, u know what your talking about. Think about it .👎

Don't deal with these bozos, call the original creditor and work out the issue with them.  Tell nothing to HW.

And on your phone, log the calls made by these folks (on iPhone you can simply touch the "i", Add To Existing Contact", then to what you want it to be - I have an entire listing for SCAM, touch "Done" and ... then block all SCAM)

But I do suggest you contact the original creditor - if you indeed owe back rent someplace - and work it out.

I told them I was recording the call and that It was a cease and desist request for all contact and they hung up .

I have gotten multiple calls from these people, only from a different number. I blocked the other number and now I will be blocking this one too. The other number was 800-768-1011.

This is Hunter Warfield, a debt collector,looking for my son.  They robo call me many times a day, including Saturdays ,trying to reach him.  It will never happen, he hasn't lived here for many years.  I just ignore the calls but have thought of suing them for harassment.  My son must have put my phone number on a rental application.
