- Boomeryeah 844-518-0399 just called me today and said they had a civil lawsuit against me if i didn't pay a $527 Sprint phone bill that i had back in 2002. This place i think is a scam. I didn't even have a phone at that time, i was just out of high school and still lived with my parents still. Theres no way that this place is legit.

said i had a complaint filed against me an they were a locater service gave the 1 844 518 0399 # as a call bak #..said i had 24hrs to return thier call or id have two warrents out - BigA replies to jeremy| 4 repliesWarrants are not issued for civil debt, and if you had committed a crime the police would just come and arrest you, they would not call first and give you 24 hours to get away.
This is a common ploy by criminals attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, etc. all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

- LisaJust had a call from Greenwich, CT 203-302-5996 informing me I was subject to a lawsuit in a criminal matter and was to to call the number 844-518-0399. I asked her what this was about she did not have any answers. She said they were just a locator service and that I needed to call. I think this is just another method bill collectors are using. I'll wait for the notice in the mail.

- Kristi Trinkle replies to BigA| 1 replyI gave them a payment, can I put a stop on it? I think I was scammed.
- BigA replies to Kristi TrinkleIf they did not do what I said in my post, and if you have read up on your rights at the links I provided and they did not follow those rules, yes you were scammed. "can I put a stop on it?" I can't give you an answer that is 100% correct. Depends on how you paid them. If you paid by bank card or credit card you can call your bank and try to put a stop on it for fraud. the bank then investigates. They may or may not eventually find in your favor. Wouldn't hurt to try however. At least follow the links i gave you and file complaints. Your State AG might have the best shot at getting your money back.
- Joey| 1 replyHow do I go about suing such a place if I know their exact location and number of employees?

- jeremy replies to BigA| 1 replybig a u replied earlier to me...they now have since called my phone..an old friend that i havent had contact with simce bak in the marine corps...all with the same case #jtk 363
has anyone else had the same case #??? - BigA replies to jeremyI have no doubt that everyone on their list has the same case number. It would be best for you to read what i have posted, and follow the links to the government sites and make reports as necessary. The CFPB is doing their job, and they have a lot of information on your situation posted there. Until someone gives us a valid name and address, there is little we can do to assist in finding these criminals.
- CWG40 replies to JoeyThat's part of the problem; no one knows exactly where these people are located. Something called GDI . No idea what that stands for.
