- Christine g| 2 repliesSays she's a process server calling me several times
- Caller: mediation services
- Slim replies to Christine gLegitimate process servers do not call to warn you, or to get money from you to stop the process. They will deliver the notification without warning.
(Here is more info than you really need on process serving:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Service_of_proce ... nited_States.29 )
Also, if you were threatened with an "arrest warrant" via a phone call or email, read this:
http://news.uscourts.gov/warning-arrest-warrant-scam
"The warrant is phony. A valid warrant would not be served by fax or e-mail. It would be served in person by a U.S. Marshal or other law enforcement officer."
"Anyone receiving a fake arrest warrant should contact the FBI or the district U.S. Marshals Office. If there is any question regarding the authenticity of a warrant, contact your district clerk of court." - Bill replies to Christine gI received the same message as Christine looks like about the same time. It was a lady saying she had been retained as a process server with documents to sign for summons to appear. She said would attempt to come to my address and to have two forms of I'd. She also gave my sons name as someone else that could sign. She said I could call the 844 number. I have no clue
- janie wagnerI did not get this call, but my son did, so I called the number and asked what they were and I got Mediation Services, the guy wanted my name I did not give it to him, told him it must have been a wrong number. Going to warn my son.
- Caller: Mediation Services
- megan| 2 repliesPeople are literally harrazing us saying I took out a loan a few years ago ( I did)..they said that eatier I could pay the full balance or me or references would be served to go to court! Is this really through the loan company or scam?
- Caller: 844-532-0284
- Alfalfa replies to meganHere are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ - Rebekah| 2 repliesI started receiving calls from this number back in 2014. She tried saying she was a independant process server and had some legal papers for a summons that i had to sign for and told me when she would be at my house or work. obviously she never showed and now today she calls again and says the same thing. i think it is all just a scam. i wont be doing anything about it till she is in person and i have papers that are real.
- LA84 replies to meganScam do not give them the time of day. I made the mistake of giving them my debit card number. Thank god they only managed to get away with $175 opposed to the $700 they wanted. I had a bad feeling after giving them my info and cancelled my card.
- Chico replies to Rebekah| 1 replyIf you get a call from this number call the local US Marshall Service. ASAP
- Double O. Seven replies to ChicoThe U.S. Marshall service said they have an open investigation and know criminals are but needs the public to help.......
- Skeptic| 49 repliesHere is their scam. A woman calls and probably changes her name each time but the name used with me was Nicole Mason. She claims to be a processor and mentioned that she was trying to reach my brother to serve him but couldn't find him. She then proceeds to say that he needs to call Mediation Service at 844 532 0284, and provides a bogus case # (MM10488). Asking her questions causes her to stutter and she responds back with "I don't know the details". This is a scam. Block the number and ignore any association with them.
- Caller: Nicole Mason
- billpayer replies to Skeptic| 48 repliesActually you are all wrong these civil cases are legitimate. I have had my lawyer look into it and it's for payday loans that you people took out and never paid back. Maybe if you paid your bills you wouldn't get people coming after you for money you owe. Grow the hell up and pay your Damn bills. Bums!!!!!!
- Gunnar replies to billpayerYou can run along. You're just a Shill or a Troll. It would be easy to prove me wrong. If your lawyer looked in to this outfit then you have all of their information. Post it. Give us their legitimate physical address. You won't post a verifiable bit of information. We all know why.
Skeff Ett Liv!
Gunnar - WolfmanJack replies to billpayer| 8 replies"I have had my lawyer look into it" So which cases did he look into? Why did you pay a lawyer to look into these cases? Because you were curious and have tons of money to spend on a lawyer? Which payday loan companies are we talking about? How did your lawyer know which cases to look at, or did he look at every civil case filed in every state and federal court? If so, what was the time frame? Can you post at least 6 cases that he found?
Should be no problem answering any of those questions since there is no personally verifiable information (unless you were the defendant), and you should have all that information at your finger tips since the lawyer should have given you a written report for your money. Not going to hold my breath until you answer though because my guess is that you never will. - BILLPAYER replies to WolfmanJack| 7 repliesI got a call from them for my son. My lawyer got faxed all the information about a payday loan from ace cash that my son took out that he got through his checking account. I am not going to post all my sons information on this site. All you people complaining about this are the reason this countries economy has gone to [***]. Your all bums. Like I said before.....PAY YOUR BILLS AND YOU WOULDN'T HAVE PEOPLE COMING AFTER YOU.
- MidNYteStorm replies to BILLPAYERHow am I responsible for paying your bills?
- Gunnar replies to BILLPAYERWe couldn't care less about your sons information. We want this collection outfits information. You won't supply it....because you're a two-bit cubicle clown trying to SHILL for them!
Skeff Ett Liv!
Gunnar - MJG replies to BILLPAYERYou need a new lawyer!!! Faxes are NOT official notification of debt. Have him/her check the FDCPA.
No information about the company??? SHILL ALERT!!! - ANonieMouse replies to billpayer| 37 replies➡️Actually you are all wrong these civil cases are legitimate. I have had my lawyer look into it and it's for payday loans that you people took out and never paid back.⬅️
Could you please give us the name and address of your lawyer and what state he is licensed in?
In order for him to make that assertion from the scanty information he would be able to got off this web site, he would either have to have provided you with services to further your aims as a stalker, flat out lied to you, or illegally have tampered with our computers. I would like to file a complaint with the disciplinary committee of the state bar of which he is a member or the highest court in the state in which he is practicing to get him permanently disbarred. - MidNYteStorm replies to ANonieMouse| 30 repliesI am guessing his lawyer was an imaginary friend.
