Legitimate process servers do not call to warn you, or to get money from you to stop the process.  They will deliver the notification without warning.  One way to confuse any "process server scammer" is to ask these questions:

    • What is the name of the person or company suing me?
    • What is the reason for the suit?
    • What is the name and address of the issuing Court?
    • What is the phone number of the District Clerk's office where this process is registered?

Then, check those answers against the real District Clerk info you find on the Web, for your County.  Or, ask the County District Clerk to tell you if you have a process being served.

Click on the "More Info" button for lots of good information

    More_Info
(Here is more info than you really need on process serving:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Service_of_proce ... nited_States.29 )

    Even more info:
    http://www.bbb.org/blog/2012/03/beware-bogus-process-servers/

Also, if you were threatened with an "arrest warrant" via a phone call or email, read this:
    http://news.uscourts.gov/warning-arrest-warrant-scam

"The warrant is phony. A valid warrant would not be served by fax or e-mail. It would be served in person by a U.S. Marshal or other law enforcement officer."

"Anyone receiving a fake arrest warrant should contact the FBI or the district U.S. Marshals Office. If there is any question regarding the authenticity of a warrant, contact your district clerk of court."

    Definitions, if you need 'em:
    • A summons is an official notice of a lawsuit. It is given to the person being sued (the defendant).
    • A subpoena is a court order. It requires someone to come to court, go to a deposition, or give documents or evidence.
    • Papers or documents are words sometimes used by scammers, as scare words.  Legal documents can be sent via Certified mail. A courier is not absolutely necessary, although  the Sheriff, Constable, or a Bonded Licensed Process Server might be used.  Such people will have appropriate ID.

Claim to be something that sounds like CMS.  No idea what that stands for.  Seems like a debt scamming operation to me. No legitimate process server calls you in advance and lets you know they are coming by,  Ignore and block the calls.  If someone has a debt against you, tell them to send you a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.

I got back to back calls today from 253-948-3659, The guy said his name was Gerald he was informing me he was a process server and was notifying me that he would be out to my home between 3-5 pm on march 3rd to serve me with court papers, and then to my work I could call 1-844-621-8263 to find out about the claim. It blows my mind how these scammers get away with this, I am not stupid so I know this is a scam you are never notified by phone when you are being served!! This is just a scare tactic to get your money.

Received 2 phone calls from KY numbers but when you call back they just ring and ring.  Called the 844-621-8263 # back that was left on a message with a case # and asked to speak with Gerald, who has left me a few messages.  I explained to him that I would not be exchanging any information with him over the phone.  I asked to speak to his supervisor because I believed what he was saying on the phone about his courier coming to my home and work was illegal and wanted to know what court filed the paperwork.  He hung up.  I called back to express my right to have all further communication from him in writing, someone sounding a lot like Gerald answered the phone, but when I asked if this was Gerald, he stated no and I am not telling you my name unless you tell me your, and he said he was a supervisor.  He knew my name with out me giving it and stated that if I chose to let the legal action proceed at my home and work then there was nothing further he could do.  I then explained that if someone came to my work I would photograph them and contact an attorney.  If the courier came to my home I would take the photo, get the license plate, and contact the local authorities.  I also restated that i wanted all further communication with this situation to be in writing and Gerald, Matthew Slater, and Paul had now be told.  I was documenting and recording from now on.  I was told that I only called to argue and that he (Paul) would issue a cease and desist order.  Ha!  I really would like to be able to stop people who do things like this!

This is a scam. Do not believe anything they say. They have been calling and harassing me because someone I know supposedly owes them money. It has nothing to do with me but they still call me. I told the guy "Joseph" that I would report him to the police if he didn't stop harassing me.

If you received a call from a 951 number and they asked you to call back an 866 number,  then why are you posting this on an 844 number thread?

My husband has been getting calls to his number asking for me.  Today's call was funny.  Guy stated he was trying to deliver my papers today and his car engine blew up.  Said he was going to throw my documents onto his burning engine and let them burn.  Said to call 844-850-5250 if I had any concerns.
