- SCAM| 1 replyThis is a scam! They have been calling me now for about 2 years. First they tried to say it was because I took out a payday loan and never paid it back. I NEVER took out a payday loan. Then they tried to state that I bounced a check. I have also NEVER bounced a check. They have called my cell, my work and now my mother's phone. They leave different phone numbers to call back but they all say Nationwide Arbitrators. I called them back 2 months ago and they wanted me to confirm my social security number with them. I told them they would not be getting that information from me and I kept asking what this is about. They would only keep saying they needed to confirm my social security number because they could not give out that information if I was not the ocrrect person. I said apparently you don't need that information since you have beeing calling my work and my mother learing these message. She then stated she would mark my record and hung up on me. The other number they have given me to call back is 866-848-5350, 855 720 0138 , they also have an 877 phone number but I can't find it now. I am getting really tired of all these calls and am calling my Attorney Generals office, the FTC and anyone else to report this company.

- Ron Spinelli| 2 repliesThis company called nationwide arbitrator is starting to harass me by phone calls . They will not give me any information nor do they have a web site for me to investigate them . The only info they give me are file numbers which does not prove who they are .
- Caller: Nationwide arbitrators
- M pacas replies to Ron Spinelli| 1 replyThey have my info , not sure if I owe this debt or not , but they won't send me a debt verification letter until I give them my credit card info.
- Alfalfa replies to M pacasIt doesn't work this way:
"IF they do not provide you with the verification of the debt, the debt is invalid and not subject to collection. PAY NOTHING TO ANYBODY UNLESS THEY PROVIDE YOU WITH WRITTEN VERIFICATION OF THE DEBT, AND ONLY THEN IF YOU FEEL THE DEBT IS VALID - otherwise, let them sue you for the debt, as a real law firm will only bring a legal action on a truly valid debt".

- Call type: Debt collector
- Alfalfa replies to sebThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

- Irritated| 1 replyI got a call from some lady named Jessica Smith but it came in as 'No Caller ID,' obviously a red flag. She claims there are some series of complaints being filed against me but I have no idea where they'd come from and I doubt they even really exist after reading this forum. I will be contacting them to tell them to stop calling this phone. I'm sure it's a scam.
- Caller: Nationwide Arbitration
- Anonym replies to IrritatedThis company is a load of crap! They are scammers. They are doing the exact same thing with me calling to scare me into paying them for a loan that I never took out. When I asked for verification that I took out the loan they whipped up a bogus letter that they emailed me with their letter head on top, my name and info. They even provided some fake account numbers...damn shame. If I wasn't an intelligent being I would have fallen for this crap! Do not pay anyone who can not provide your with ORIGINAL verification that you owe a debt. That letter should have shown me where I signed on the dotted line to indeed take out a loan. It should have had the original date, company AND address of said company and the info I provided in order to abide by the terms and conditions of the loan. NATIONWIDE ARBITRATIONS are a bunch of losers who steal people's money! DO NOT FALL FOR IT!
- LillyGot a call saying I have complaints against me with a case number. I called back no answer. I left message stating they need to provide the problem in writing and stop calling.

- LouiseSame scenario...caller named Mark Goodman says that my number has been given as an emergency contact to notify me of a fraud case against me. He says I have 24-48 hours to respond or they will issue a civil judgment against me to be served at my place of employment (I am unemployed) or my home ( somehow they have my address). I do not owe anything to anyone in my name, and they used a similar name to mine, not my actual name. THIS IS A SCAM!!! No legitimate company would contact you in this way. THEY ARE COMMITTING FRAUD TO TRY TO EXTORT MONEY!!

- MissyPooSame darn scenario...I received a call from Jennifer Collins, yesterday saying that her office has a case file there with my name and social attached; It is imperative that I respond back. The crazy lady also contacted my sister, today, who lives in Florida, on her cell phone saying that IF she knew me to pass along the information, of a case file being with their office and I need to call her back at (844) 714-2290 ext. 311. A message was also left at my place of employment!!!! These people are relentless in their efforts to SCAM you! I notified my mother to not answer any calls from unknown numbers.......This is crazy! No legitimate company would contact you in this manner; it's quite embarrassing of them to reach out to your family and friends. Who does that???

- Steph PhelpsBeen getting these calls for a long time, month after month. Ready to change our numbers. Saying we took out a payday loan online from some cash net. They have all my husband's information and a old Yahoo email I haven't used in years. They are very rude and threading. I hung up on them and called back asking to talk to a supervisor, I was told the man I was speaking to was the only one there. I told them to shove their scam we aren't paying for something we didn't do. They keep saying they are serving papers in our county and sending my husband to jail lol legit business does not operate in this manner. Said they have contacted our bank but we use a small town bank where they know us very well and the bank said nobody has contacted them about our account and they will let me know if these crooks try to take anything out of our account. It's so sad how far these people will go to try and scam you. Another number was calling saying the same thing and then calling to give us a car loan. The scammers are relentless. This week his name is Dean Snyder it was John something last week but it's the same person
