    Called at 7:18 Mountain DST, 3-24-14.  ID "NAME NOT FOUND".  I do not answer these type calls, especially at that time of day.  The male caller left a message. I cannot make out the message.  Something about "boxes" and "debt collection'  When I try to block the number, I cannot do it my usual way.  So I will have to look in my manual and block this jerk the hard way.

    You could try a different "usual way", which does not depend on flaky technology and sets a legal bear trap for the irritant. You have a right to limit or ban phone calls from third party debt collectors, courtesy of state and federal laws. USPS Certified with return card is the preferred method for sending your demands. If you might be held liable for some debt, be certain not to deny all forms of contact or a nervous creditor might be inspired to sue.

    This number calls be every week and says I have 48hours to respond or their will be a warrant out for my arrest.  I contacted my local police and Federal Trade Commission and mad complaints with both.  This has been going on for several months.  I do not owe anything to who they say they represent.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    This number has called me like 5 times over the last 6 months.  They always claim that person (not listing name but I think it's made up) listed me as a contact and has been marked as a 'person of interest' in an 'investigation' and that 'federal law' prevents them from saying anymore.

    I called them back once and they did was ask me to verify personal information like name and address then when I pushed on who they were they hung up.  This is a personal information phishing scam.  I've had the number blocked.

    I recieved a call from this phone number and did not answer it. I was left a message from a "Michael Guzman" saying I was listed as a secondary contact for someone I am related to, but I do not have contact with nor talk to this particular person they were referring to. He said that either I, or the other person, or the other person's legal representative should contact Del Rey Capital and left the same number to call back. I then google searched the phone number and found this so I am not going to call them back and have put this number on my blocked list.

    Received a call and voice message from this number this morning.  Caller claimed to be Miss Maguire from Delray Capital calling for a Larry Hudson (not me) with last four digits of a social security number that is not mine.  She says a formal complaint is being filed against Mr. Hudson and they have been retained to review the documents associated with this complaint and that the evidence is substantial.  She then says she's also been instructed to file a civil complaint against this name and social security number and in accordance with the laws in my county they are required to notify me first.  She then leaves the number above with her extension and a case number.

    This is obviously a scam of some sort.  I plan to file a complaint with the FTC.

    Called cell phone, left no message.  No name on caller ID, so it was probably a scam / telemarketer call.
