Just got a robo call from this number telling me the IRS is going to put a lien on my property beginning tomorrow and I'd better call them back at that number to settle up.  Clearly a scam--the IRS does not inform people of a tax lien by making a robo call.  Somewhere out there, though, are people who are freaking--the scam must work at least sometimes.

Called several times, finally I answer, IRS has lien on money property and if I did not withdraw x number of dollars on an account that has a lien on it,  My husband and I would be arrested within hour.  Date of last call 02/05/2015.

I received an automated call stating that all my assets would be frozen and a lien placed on all my accounts by the IRS and that I should expect a collections officer to visit to fill out some forms.
I did call the number back and it states in an automated voice "this is the IRS. You may also go to www.irs.gov" so this makes it seem legitimate. However, I believe any notifications from the IRS would come in letter form and would not be so threatening at first contact.
This worries me as an older person may feel obliged to call back and give their information to someone who is stealing identities from unsuspecting people who work hard for their money.
    Annoying!

You would think with all the technology we have the government could easily find out where these calls are coming from and get them stopped.  I agree that some people such as the elderly might get worried about this and do what they ask.

These extortionists are using cheap computer software to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement, making them next to impossible to be traced.

Received this same call this morning.  Did not answer although it was identified as "toll free cable" on my phone.  Listened to the message.  Some of it was cut off but was talking about IRS and taxes, etc... also.  Fortunately from my work I know the IRS would never contact you this way.  Everyone beware.!!!

Something about IRS and taxes, BILL COLLECTION OFFICER to visit within the next 24 hours-Hogwash... as IRS sends a letter via mail if there are any IRS/tax issues. (no need to worry if you have been filing your income tax returns yearly)
This call was a computerized voice, the first few seconds are not clear...eg name of caller or person being called.
Suspect a scare tactic-and it must work on some By golly who wants to deal with the IRS bullies. Also be informed the IRS unfortunately furloughed many employees. Several people I know are getting other types of phone scams. Research all calls dealing anything  concerning, finances, money or accounts and of course taxes !
