They wouldn't give me their company name the guy who answered the phone was of some ethnical call center type personality very polite but he still wouldn't give me his name either . - Barbara B.| 1 replyHad a big warning on my laptop this morning that I had a serious Malware virus.
I did call the 844-743-8738 # and got suspicious quickly, so said I would just call Apple.
Then I Googled the phone number and found this site. Followed the instructions given and all seems well, but will still bring the laptop to my local trusted repair shop to make certain.- Caller: Mac Security - 844-743-8738

- NoahMy wife got this popup when she accidentally went to www.leapfro.com instead of www.leapfrog.com Froze Safari and she called the phone number They claimed to be from Apple and tried to direct her to the website "www.tviewer.com" to "fix" the problem, but my wife wised up and asked how they could prove they were from Apple. He gave her an "employee ID number" and the name of his "supervisor" and told her to call back the same suspicious phone number asking for the supervisor. Thank god she figured it out and hung up before any damage was done. We called Apple support just in case and they confirmed this is a scam.
- Aaron replies to WesThank you
- Richard replies to MichaelThey wanted $399.00 from me to fix problem.
They are very good scammers . I gave them access also, but did not give them any money. - ShannonI was browsing on Safari when I was directed to a page that said Secure Connection Failed. There was also an additional popup from "macsecuritys.com" that read "Critical Security Warning! Your System is infected with a malicious award attack. Please contact tech support at 1-844-743-8738 to resolve any potential threats to your personal and financial information, which was being tracked by suspicious connection. And so on..." I then called the number and spoke with a foreign woman who gave very little information other than insisting she was a tech support representative for apple. She then instructed me to download software to diagnose my problem. She was very short and rude and I eventually insisted on being transferred to her superior. He, also had a foreign accent, claimed his name was Mike and was even more rude. When I asked him when any questions he would just respond saying he wasn't a magician and I'd be foolish to take it into the mac store being my connection would be lost and they would charge me for the services. I eventually hung up and called apple support who confirmed it was a scam and no damage had been done to my laptop.

- Rebecca replies to dlightstoneTry clicking on the apple image (upper left corner) and then on Force Quit, and select safari from that list, then follow the steps to force quit safari. At least that's what worked for me.
- KimSame, message said infected, called and they asked me to forcequit, turn on with shift key held, did fix my prob, but transfered me to a another one who asked for total of almost $1,000 to fix, I said no, and we said bye. Hope my laptop is okay!!! They claimed they are from Premium Tech Support.
