This number called, said his name was Ryan with xcel energy, said I was on the disconnect list for today, called the number and they answered as xcel energy, said I hadn't paid my bill in over 3 months and owed like $1,256.00, and needed to pay at Safeway pay area, called xcel when I got home and they said I owed for this month only and it was a scammer, they do not disconnect on weekends or holidays. Got a prank text from 646–513–7940. Call came in at 8:53 last night. Have never received a prank text before in 15 years of cell phone use. Noticed other postings that are showing the same number stating nasty texts have been coming from this number.

Easy fix: Forward the text to 7726 (short code for SPAM). Your cell provider will investigate and block. Problem solved.
