Same here. Left VM and stated I face legal charges and that they sent a letter 10 days ago. Just went through all my mail from last 2 weeks and nothing what could cause any legal matter in there. They also didn't say who they are only to call back to avoid criminal charges

they keep calling saying that if I don't answer or reply with a phone call that I'm going to face criminal charges and possible jail time. And that I was sent a letter 10 days ago which I never received.

It is not legitimate.   It is a low life debt collector and or scammer,  using illegal collection tactics to extort money from people.
One such long time crooked debt collector who used these tactics was arrested about a month ago along with his six employees for a multitude of charges which included threats.   Don't answer their calls and/or don't call them back.

Have received a call twice from this number advising that an important case was forwarded to inter-coastal processing and that I have failed to respond to the written notice received 10 days prior to the call and if I am facing criminal and misdemeanor charges...failure to comply will result in a automatic guilty plea...I originally thought it was a wrong number and I was going to call back to let them know I wasn't who they are looking for, but I'm glad I found this page first!

    Jesus Loves You
It's a predatory debt collector, they call based on collections that do exist and use strong arm tactics which often violates the Fair Trade Commission Act. Threatening you is not OK in the USA in order to collect debts and claiming you can be arrested is not only frowned upon and illegal but a pure representation of a bunch of [***] who generally get away with these tactics in lower income and under educated areas. Inter-coastal ?  Rogue Collection agency, primarily African American using unlawful collection practices. Keep their recordings and file on them, but be advised they will just resurface again as Intra-Coastal Collections, John Doe so and so collections,  or whatever and apply the same strategies all over

You are so utterly clueless regarding debt collection & the actions performed by the CRAs that you have just exposed yourself as a fraud. What's really funny is the fact that you're not even sure how you did it!
You amateurish SHILLS just never learn. You have just tanked this number. Tell the boss-man that it's time to spoof a new one. You've made sure that anyone looking this one up will know that you & your fellow call-centers cretins are scammers. Nice work!
Have a nice X-mas. I hope you spend a lot of those rupees on your family!

    Nope... replies to sassy
....not even close!  Per federal debt collection law, the debt collector is the one who bears the burden of proving you owe them - not the other way around!  Paying a delinquent debt does NOT remove it from your credit report - so again, nice try, but no cigar!  The debt may show as paid, however, it will stay on your credit report for up to seven years!

"so i reccomend if you recieve a call from this place and you are awae of what they are speaking about just be an adult and pay your debt that is all they request" - your words.

Well, sunshine, people who know their rights under federal law will demand the required validation letter via USPS snail mail - and not merely take the word of some random stranger on the phone that they owe money.  That is all WE request!

First of all, you can't be arrested for not paying a bill. If you are passing bad checks, then yes you can be arrested for that. But they prey on people’s fear and ignorance of the law.

If it's a legitimate debt, it has to be forwarded to an Attorney that is licensed to practice in your state before they can file a civil suit to recover the funds.  Even those aren't always on the level. One debt collector tried taking me to court after I requested copies of the original contract I signed with the account information - including the transaction and payment histories. None of which they could provide. All they filed was a piece of paper with an account number on it and a dollar amount I supposedly owed for an account that was 10 years old. Why because 50% of the people don't even bother to appear in court to fight a case like that.  Not appearing is the worst thing you can do, because if it is a phony claim it doesn't matter. If you don't show up, they get a default judgement and before you know it, the court is putting a freeze on your bank account.   They count on this.

I argued 1) the Account had been paid - providing payment proof, 2) that it was past the statue of limitations which in my state is 6 years, and 3) They could not provide any of the original account information (which they should have in their possession).  Not only did the judge dismiss the case, but I sued them for harassment and won $5,000.
