i called this number back. It says it's rent to own help. I hung up. I'm a home owner not a renter.

I submitted my name to a website on behalf of my niece who was desperate to find a home. Received a call back, supposedly the girls name was Stephanie, sounded really sweet, gave me a listing that included homes that have been on the market for months and I know are bank owned and cannot possibly be "rent to own". I don't know if I left my name with a legitimate company website and they sold my name,  or if the website was a scam altogether.

Should you read this, post the web site's name, or if you want, do a 'whois' (dot com) on the web site. It will tell you when it was registered, by who, and when it expires. Lots to learn from that information. Look for recent registration, only 1 year register, foreign ownership, and private proxy registration. All red flags.

I'm looking for a home to rent in other areas of the USA. I started to register "for free" at www.Rent2OwnHelp.com, but doing so I had to then go to www.GoFreeCredit.com in a new window and register with them to get my credit score "for free". The forms asked for too much info, then my credit card info. I don't trust ANY banks or financial companies anymore, so I don't have a credit card, so I just closed both windows. About 30 minutes later I received a call from 844-764-1425. Both website domain names are rather 2nd rate, so it seems to me that both are scams of some sort, or the rent site is bogus and just there to get a commission from the GoFreeCredit website. I added the number to my phone address book so I know who it is next time.
