    I got a voicemail from an "unknown" / no caller ID number with a guy stating his name was Greg Nixxon and he was with Legal support Services and he would be serving me documents to sign for a court date and I would need to have a photo id when he comes by my home tomorrow - and if he has to come by my place of employment tomorrow because I'm not home.... I will have to have my Supervisor witness me signing the documents??? Yeah I've actually been served court date civil lawsuit papers a couple times and this is what I know- they never call you to warn you, you don't have to present an ID, and a supervisor does not have to witness anything. He gave me a call back number stating I could postpone this ( how nice of him) :/ yeah right )) the number was 1-844-780-6700, and if he wasn't successful on serving me my documents tomorrow, that is if I don't call back today---that it would automatically be considered a denial of process or some BS. Do not give this idiot any info - let them serve you, that's the only way you'll know it's legitimate people.

    called again today twice and said -"a guy stating his name was Greg Nixxon and he was with Legal support Services and he would be serving me documents to sign for a court date and I would need to have a photo id when he comes by my home tomorrow - and if he has to come by my place of employment tomorrow because I'm not home.... I will have to have my Supervisor witness me signing the documents- AGAIN. I got this call yesterday about 1:15pm and again today @ 11:46am he said this time he would be out to my home between 2-4 pm and then he would try and locate me at my place of employment and to make sure my supervisor was around to witness my signature. he said if he was unable to locate me at either home/work that it would be an automatic refusal on my part part and that I must call his in the next hour to settle this matter. He finally said "cya soon" and hung up. Has anyone actually been served anything from this weirdo? Aren't hey supposed to identify who the complaint or papers being served are from???????????????

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    •Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    I received a call the other day from an unknown number from a lady that said she would be out to my house to serve me documents and if she didn't reach me there she would try at my place of employment to serve me and I would need my supervisor there to witness. If I had questions I was to call 1 (844) 780-6700 for further detail. I did call and they were pressuring me to send in a one time large settlement payment, refused to set up a reasonable payment plan. After seeing these comments I decided not to call them back. So then I just received another call today saying this lady would be out to serve me and she called from a pay phone. What is up with this? I understand if I owe but I thought collectors were supposed to try to work a payment plan out with you and not threaten to sue you?

    Someone by the name of Crystal Davis called from 844-780-6700 at my mother's house saying they were from Montgomery County (no other title)asking for my husband's signature on something and that he had 2 hours to do so, Otherwise, they would go to his office for further action. I called the 844-780-6700 number back and it's not a working number. This is a scam if I ever heard of one.

    Real process servers do NOT call you ahead of time - that would defeat the point of catching you at home.  They also don't tell you to call another number for further details.  This is a scam, no more, no less.  And per the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to MAIL - do not accept email/fax/phone - proof of debt and proof your caller has the legal right to collect said debt.  Refusal to mail this documentation within five days of their initial contact is another violation of federal law.  More here:

    Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

    I got a call from 1-844-780-6700.  A Scam Artist named John Carter asked if I was at home because he was coming to serve me papers.  I asked him why? For What?  He said that I was being bought up on charges for check fraud and for committing Fraud against a Government Agency.  I told him that he had the wrong phone number and I hung up.  He called back and was very nasty. He said that he was coming to my Job and that I should have my supervisor present. They had the nerve to call my Brother!  What loosers!  I don't write checks and I think if I had committed Fraud against a Government Agency... I think I would probably be in Jail by now!

    These are hardcore criminals attempting to extort money for nonexistent debts. Treat them as such and let them know you have NO intention of paying them anything, will be reporting them to law enforcement and hang up.
