- AM replies to Puzzled in BrewCity| 1 replyA guy named John Triplett contacted me at work today (and I'm a teacher). Super embarassing. I called and asked what it was about and he said there was a lawsuit against me. When I asked him to send me that information in writing or by email he refused and said the only way to stop from being sued is to give him my credit card number. Yah right. He did say he was going to keep harassing me at work. Even call my principal. I don't know what to do. Any advice.
- Elspeth replies to AMPer the FDCPA, you should not pay any caller who refuses to MAIL - do not accept email or fax - proof that you owe a debt and proof that your caller has the legal right to collect said debt. Refusal to mail this documentation is a violation of federal law. If there was a lawsuit against you, you'd have gotten a surprise visit from a process server - no announcement beforehand! Please also print up this thread and give to your HR Dept and/or supervisor - you're being harassed by a scammer. More info here:

Follow the steps in what you need to know. A legitimate debt collector agency should not have a problem with giving you a real business name and address you can google and verify via google street view, BBB etc.

And folks should consider looking at maybe getting call blocking device or phone....you can Google them and many are around $60 or so. - Enigmalady777I too got a message from these scammers. The guy sounded like he was in a call center boiler room. There was a lot of people and noise in the background. Spoke perfect english, which leads me to believe it's a stateside scam (as opposed to overseas).
The message was "this is Jim Rogers with Regional Express Carriers calling you regarding the court document from court that needs your signature. I did stop by your house and no one was there so at this time I have filed an affadavit of due diligence to the claimant's office letting them know that I did everything in my power to reach you, this means a guilty plea has been entered without you with this matter. If you want to know where and when you need to appear in court you can contact the firm that processed the order, their telephone number is 844-795-7492". He left some baloney case number as well.
First of all, someone has called me twice before a few weeks ago, with this same ridiculous claim that it was a "Subpeona" that I needed to sign for and left a different number of 844-861-2181 as the call back number. The last message they left the dude had an incorrect place of employment for me. I haven't worked at that place in 10 years, lol. Go ahead, try to "serve" me with a "subpeona" there. Schmucks.
Secondly, a reasonable person would not call the "Claimant" if they were being sued, they'd call the court in their county or city or they'd call their own attorney (if they have one). Thirdly, I haven't committed a crime, so how can I be "guilty" of anything??? Shouldn't I have been arrested for something to be "guilty" of anything? The only infraction I ever committed was a speeding ticket about 4 years ago and that's long been paid off, and my DMV record reflects it!!!
This is purely fraudulent. How can people with a conscience work for a company that is clearly breaking the law?? I'm filing a complaint with the FTC for both this phone number and the other two calls which were more than a nuisance, they are downright illegal. It's time for this scam to end. - KimPlease do not call me anymore!!!!! Mr Jim Rogers!!!!!

- Peaches01| 1 replyReceived two calls from a Tommy Long, Regional Express Couriers - stated a subpeona appeared on his desk for me and to call back. First of all, Harris County announced just this week that these calls were happening around the city and to ignore them and not send any money, it was a scam. I just deleted the message - I have been harrassed by these calls for a couple months now. I just don't answer.

- Alfalfa replies to Peaches01The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

- Same hereI have recieved calls from a Jim Rogers of Regional Processing regarding a "debt" and it was imperative for me to contact them back so no further legal action would result. Unfortunately these lowlifes duped me a few weeks ago and i gave them my debit card info. However they got greedy and hit my account twice in one week. My bank flagged it and upon investigating them and also thanks to this site I have found they are a scam. I had to cancel my account and card and open another one so dont be fooled. Hopefully this will save someone the money and hassel. Cuss the POS out when they try you next.

- Gene IrvingPeople from the number 844 795 7492 called my work number threatening me about a law suit about money that has been owed for over two years. I know nothing about this and have received no written statement regarding it. The next day they called again and I was off, (undergoing a surgical procedure), they even threatened our unit secretary. I am a nurse in a state hospital. This is really getting intolerable and the man is very rude and asks many personal questions. I don't believe this is legal and I believe it is a scam. I was a victim of identity fraud two years ago and I believe these people may be the ones who were involved in it.
- OliviaI had the same call today and he was asking for my father. He said my dad needed to return his call today before they proceeded contacting the sheriffs department to proceed with criminal/civil case against him. I requested a docket number. He ignored my request. He just kept on repeating how important was a returned call today. I requested to know which courthouse this was file since we had not received any type of notice via mail nor in person. He stated that no court delivers anything via mail. I said he was incorrect that the court had to also serve via mail and again for the third time I requested a docket number. He then started yelling at me and told me he has been doing this for over 20 years and no court has ever delivered via mail any documents. He then proceeded by now telling me he is going to press charges against me for abetting a fugitive and he hung up on me. I called back and the phone was picked up while the person answering the phone was carrying a conversation with someone within her office. They hung up. So I called again. I requested for their physical address or mailing address.. No response. I had to ask her three more times before she proceeded to give me an address in Pennsylvania. I then asked to speak to a supervisor or manager and she said she was a manager. I ask for her name and she said her name was Nicholle Jackson. She then just hung up on me. This is so terrible. I am glad I received the call and not my father. He would had been so upset and scared being told he was going to be charge with a criminal case. He is not an irresponsible person and has always taken care of his obligations. If there was something outstanding and we could verify it was his. We would take care of it but this company will not give any information. Please let me know if anyone could tell me how I could file a complain against them as well.

- AnonymI have been getting calls from these guys in one form or another over the last few months. I have tried reasoning with them, asked to be given a written letter stating facts about this "debt". The first caller was a "Jim Rogers" from Regional Processing. He stated that a loan company was suing me, blah blah blah and a warrant was issued, blah blah blah. They came by my house, blah blah blah. Its all a scam. I stole money, blah blah blah. I told him to stop calling after the second time. Then he called a few days later and told him to get F*%ked but he continued calling. Then they stopped for a week or so, now there is another guy using the same number from a Shapiro and Assoc. firm calling about my name and phone number being in a document and they needed a recorded statement from me. Ridiculous. Guess I will have to change my number.....

- Deb HansenReceived a call with a caller ID of Los Angeles - phone 844-795-7494. I didn't recognize the number so I let it go to voice mail. The woman left a recorded message saying she was Michelle Stafford from Westford Portfolio Management and that I was a "person of interest" in a case (gave me a case number) against Nicholas March (who I do not know). The message said if I wanted to "resolve the matter" I should call them back. I called them back and the phone rang 25 times, and then I received a message. I left the message that I do not know Nicholas March and wanted them to take my name off their calling list.
