Submit a complaint with the CFPB - BigA replies to juanitaThere doesn't seem to be any debt collector by that name in New York. Using the word "arbitration" in the business name is a clear indication that this is a criminal enterprise pretending to be a debt collector.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Looks like another scam attempt! - NoneYa| 6 repliesA Stephanie Taylor called from 844-802-6753 from a blocked number to a friends phone looking for me, stated this was a case of check fraud in San Bernardino, CA case #857298-ca . This is a totally fruadulant call. I am not the type of person to do no type of fraud let alone check fraud and calling people that I may have used as a reference at some loan center before.
- Caller: did not say company name
- NoneYa replies to NoneYa| 1 replyAnd if this an attempt to collect on a debt, they are violating ALL privacy laws giving information to someone other than the person owing the dept, this was slanderous. My friend told me this was regarding 2 counts of check fraud, and a ticket and they are going to garnish my wages.......All sorts of violations here!
- William replies to NoneYa"2 counts of check fraud"
This type of "debt collection" scam often adds the allegation of check fraud in their lies. - received a calledHi, she called me to from blocked number. said 2 counts for check fraud were pending against me. I believe those would be criminal charges? I don't even write checks, I use online bill pay. Refused my request for documentation to be send to me to take to attorney
- Caller: stephanie
- CThe lady told me I owed ACE almost $2000 and that they had evidence from my checking account and SS# to prove the fraud. I had no idea what she was talking about, I wanted to know where she was calling from, and what was going on, she told me "Im not going to play the dumb game, you did it" she then asked me if I had an attorney to appear in court. When I insisted that this was not correct as Ive never borrowed money or used ACE she hung up on me.

- P| 5 repliesI received the same calls from a Janice Young....stated that I had wrote bad checks and my wages would be garnished...even had Dallas County call me to say they were going to deliver a summons and if not...submit it to the warrants division. I've never received any mail from these ppl....i can't even google them.
- Caller: Rma Arbitration

- BigA replies to P| 4 repliesWell know criminal enterprise pretending to be a debt collector. They spoofed the number to Dallas County. No one calls ahead about a summons and lets you have time to dodge them. There are no warrants issued because debt is civil not criminal. Notify Dallas County that someone is spoofing their phone number to commit extortion. Then use these links to learn and report

- BigA replies to P| 2 repliesYou are welcome!
- P replies to BigA| 1 replyI verified this is a scam big time...so I did make a payment arrangement with her. However, I got concerned so I attempted to call her back on Tuesday and Wednesday with no answer. I got paid yesterday so I took all of My money out of my account because a payment was supposed to be processed this morning. Well she called at about 9:20 am and left a vm stating that she received an email from Dallas County stating that my payment was declined and that broke my contract so she needed to forward my case back to them before 2pm blah blah blah. So i called Dallas County and they have NO information on me whatsoever. And I can't seem to find any information on her company online at all. This is absolutely ridiculous. Watch out for these people you guys....they are trying everything possible to scare you.

- Alfalfa replies to QueenHow can I verify whether or not a debt collector is legitimate?
Here are a few warning signs that could signal a debt collection scam:
The debt collector threatens you. Legitimate debt collectors probably won't claim that they'll have you arrested or claim that they or their employees are law enforcement officers.
The debt collector refuses to give you information about your debt or is trying to collect a debt you do not recognize. You have certain rights to ask a debt collector to verify the debt. You can use this sample letter to request this information. Ask for an explanation in writing before you pay.
The debt collector refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number.
The debt collector asks you for sensitive personal financial information. You should never provide anyone with your personal financial information unless you are sure they're legitimate.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his or her name, company, street address, telephone number, and professional license number. Many states require debt collectors to be licensed. Check the information the caller provides you with your state officials, or the state in which the debt collector holds a license. If the caller refuses or is unable to provide you with information about his company, or if you can’t verify the information he provides, do not give money to the caller or company.
Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." This notice must include:
The amount of the debt
The name of the creditor you owe
A description of certain rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, consider requesting this information in writing or seeking assistance before paying the debt to make sure the debt, and the company, are valid.
Tip: You can consider sending the collector a letter requesting the information by using one of the CFPB's sample letters. You can also submit a complaint to the CFPB or you can contact your state Attorney General’s office.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know the company or person you are talking with is a real debt collector. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft such as:
Charging your existing credit cards
Opening new credit card or checking accounts
Writing fraudulent checks
Taking out loans in your name
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Submit a complaint with the CFPB or get in touch with your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers.
Stop speaking with the caller. If nothing else works and you believe the calls are fraudulent, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files.
Tip: You can use this sample letter to write a letter demanding the debt collector stop contacting you. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Tip: If you're having trouble with debt collection, you can submit a complaint with the CFPB online or by calling (855) 411-CFPB (2372).
http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ - Jennifer| 1 replyI have been getting 100s of calls from RMA Arbitration for the last two months. They've stepped it up in the last week though. The have spoffed the number for the Montgomery County switch board and when called th3y have no idea what I'm calling about. They are calling me, my husband, my parents and siblings. I have contacted the sheriff's department, an attorney, and the creditor too. All say the same thing, this is not a real debt collector. I have contacted a few agencies to get the calls to stop and have been told basically there's nothing that can be done because they are not legitimate. I have filled my call block list with their numbers and still they continue to find ways around it. I have also been told that the constable's office that they have gotten dozens of people calling about this same company.
