They called - I did not answer.  I have now blocked the ENTIRE 844 AREA CODE!
Eff them!
Rest assured that, any call coming from florida is a junk call - unless it is a known number.

No the 844 area code is a new toll-free area code.

How do I block the new 844 area codes?

Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

Started getting calls from this number about 2 weeks ago - 2-3 a day, along with 844-552-5923. Don't answer but doesn't stop them. Caller ID shows "800 Service)

Incorrect.
However, it is evident that your understanding of the DNC list is sadly lacking.

The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities and companies with preexisting business relationships, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list  is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.

Numerous calls over several days from this number. Caller ID says "NAME NOT FOUND" and number says 844-804-1295. I answered and all they said was, "Is Robert there?" I asked who I could tell him was calling and they said, "Hart Research, and we are doing an opinion poll." I told them we are no longer accepting these types of calls and to please remove our number from their calling list. They became rude and said they could only do that if Robert told them to.I insisted they remove our number and was told they would have to check with a supervisor. Then I was told again that I could not mke that request, but that "Robert specifically" would have to make that request. I repeated firmly they need to remove our number and hung up. I then called their number (844-804-1295) and got their automated "number removal" message, which is quite a lengthy process, and which states they are in compliance with the National Do Not Call Registry guidlines, and then asking to press "1" to have my number removed, which after doing so was followed with an almost lecture type of comment that by removing our number we would not be participating in numerous decisions were made which can affect us and other citizens ......blah, blah, blah (I really do not remember what all it said), and then had to press yet another number to confirm that I wanted my number removed. I am certain they do this lengthy and somewhat pushy routine so that people will hang up before they confirm the removal has been requested.

They called late in the evening. Their number is now blocked by me. I'm tired of all of these phone calls! Just like everyone else is!

This caller asked me if I was Marie Williams. I said yes. He said he had an 8 to 10 minute survey about issues with my area and the country.  I told him to go ahead, and he told me that's all the questions I have to ask you because we don't need any for female opinions.  What tha?

We continue to get calls from this number - 844-804-1295. When I've asked them to take our number off their lists, they say they can't because they don't have 'Do Not Call' lists because they're not a marketing company. One person said they were taking a survey. They've also been incredibly rude when I tell them not to call. In the future I won't pick up the phone, but it's really annoying getting these continuous phone calls.

Got a call from this number the other evening.  Someone wanting to do some sort of survey.  Told them we weren't interested and hung up.  Came up on Caller ID as follows:
