Folks - REAL process servers do NOT call first.  They arrive without warning.  The caller is a scammer trying to extort money from you!

We just got a call from this number at our business location. "You are receiving this message regarding a complaint involving check fraud....call back asap", etc.  I did not call back since I have researched the number and read these reviews.  Thank you for the warning - much appreciated!!

    So, "Ur Daddy,

"there's a claim against you for check fraud! We are Claims Department.. Leave your FULL Name and the number we had called you on and your claim file number if I have one"
    -and-
"said they were coming to my house or job and first it was check fraud"
    -and-
"Process server said his name was Steven Greenwood"

Yes, "serious", extortion and threats.. The calling card of a low class collection scammer.
What? Do all you criminals, who buy peoples information to extort money, also get a free "How To Scam and Extort Money by Posing as a Legit Collection Agency" que card?

    Too predictable..

So they gave me a docket number. But they got my sister number an she don't live with me. Called her they even asked if I opened a new bank account? I told her it was none of her business I was going to pay they she placed me on hold for a long time. So they keep calling can we block the num. Oh ya I was going to pay via western Union she said no that was not save had to be checking or debit card.

First off.. Them requesting checking or debit is a HUGE warning flag as sending them a check (which has your account number and routing number information) as well as debit card gives them full access to continue to suck money out of your accounts. Money that you will not be able to get back unless you have a real good attorney willing to go after them.

With that being said.. They gave you a docket number? I'm confused.. For whom is the docket number for? Your sister or you? Most importantly, did you call your county courthouse and inquire about this supposed docket number?

I'm also miffed on whether or not you are saying IT IS A LEGIT DEBT or NOT A LEGIT DEBT..

I got the same call and also spoke with Alesha Gray. She had information on my old checking account that I closed over six years ago. Actually gave me the name of my bank at that time. This was over a internet payday loan. I told the lady that I didn't know anything about that. Apparently that happened in may of 2008. Told me that they were going to file fraud charges on 4,000.00, and the apparent payday loan was 380.00. I have never been in trouble with the law before. But the lady asked me about people I knew. Like my ex husband. She gave his full name. I was divorced in 2004. This supposibly happened in 2008. Also gave old addresses of places I have lived. And how do they get your cell number? I did do a payday loan before but I know it was paid. They take it from your checking account within how you get paid with your employment. So I don't know what to do.

The did their research.  All of that information can be retrieved from the internet, and from hacked sources, and there have been plenty of hacked sources lately including Chase and several other big banks.  Now, if this is legitimate, since they talked to you, they are required by Federal law to do the following:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices:  http://consumerfraudreporting.org/stateattorneygenerallist.php

If they fail to do the above, then they are criminals.  do not pay them a penny until they have sent that letter, and you have disputed the debt in writing, and they have provided the necessary documentation from the original creditor, again as required by law.

They said called again said they have been attempting to contact me by certified mail but I haven't received anything. I would like to know how they get your cell phone number when you're not in a directory like a landline number. Any how I also have a Chase account. I hope they didn't get my information from that. And I am going to do as you said and look into this further.
