Someone called my dad from this number, apparently looking for me. They stated that I needed to call them with a reference number that they provided and said that it pertained to a person that I have no affiliation with, and if I didn't call them back, legal action would be taken and some paperwork would be sent to my home. I looked online and searched the area code, and it appears to be a SCAM! Not calling them back!!!

My experience was just like Trina's.  The number showed in my caller ID as "UNAVAILABLE" so I did not answer the call.

I got a call from this number and they were looking for my ex.  They knew everything about him and said they attempted to deliver paperwork to him twice.  It is a Law Firm and now serving him at his job.

Called and knew an estranged family members name and knew a very real address of a close family member. I asked what the company name was and was told PSD. I asked what that stood for and she didn't know because she "just sits behind a desk". I told her that I needed to know her physical address and she hung up.

Received a message from an unknown number and was told to call back to this number in reference to a person that I did not know.  Out of curiosity, I called them back and spoke to a fairly pleasant young man who claimed to be a switchboard operator and that there were several numbers in the building.  He asked for a reference number and I provided the one left in the message I received.  They knew my name and claimed that I had been listed as a reference for the individual they were trying to get in touch with, actually they wanted to serve a legal notice on the individual.  I told them I was unaffiliated and the gentleman said they would remove my number from the list.  He asked if there were any other numbers I would like removed and I said no.  I asked again which company was calling that he worked for and he stated CNN Litigation Group, LLC.  It's possible I misheard and it might have also bee C&N Litigation Group, LLC.  I googled and could find no information on either company name.

Definitely a scam. Called my previous employer stating they have a summons against me and I had 20 minutes to return their call. an old co-worker texted me the information and when my spouse called back, they refused to provide their name or address. If you call back, tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. When we did this, we were stonewalled which is a sure sign of fraud. Also, make sure to file a complaint with the Attorney General in your state and the FTC- this is the only way to stop these companies from using these scams to get money out of unsuspecting, responsible people. It's sick what they do!

Call blocker might be of some help.  Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd.  Or where there is no caller ID.

Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

    1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
    2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
    3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

    If they are bothering you,

    Report them:

    http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

Pay off the debt for your poor ex husband, and settle the debt, which it is likely you caused.
