Legitimate process servers do not call to warn you, or to get money from you to stop the process.  They will deliver the notification without warning.

Click the "Confuse" link, below, to learn how to validate the call, or confuse any "process server scammer"

    Confuse
If you want to confuse any "process server" scammer, or validate the information, ask these questions of the caller:

    • What is the name of the person or company suing me?
    • What is the reason for the suit?
    • What is the name and address of the issuing Court?
    • What is the phone number of the District Clerk's office where this process is registered?

Then, check those answers against the real District Clerk info you find on the Web, for your County.  Or, ask the County District Clerk to tell you if you have a process being served.

Click on the "More Info" button for lots of good information

    More_Info
(Here is more info than you really need on process serving:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Service_of_proce ... nited_States.29 )

    Even more info:
    http://www.bbb.org/blog/2012/03/beware-bogus-process-servers/

Also, if you were threatened with an "arrest warrant" via a phone call or email, read this:
    http://news.uscourts.gov/warning-arrest-warrant-scam

"The warrant is phony. A valid warrant would not be served by fax or e-mail. It would be served in person by a U.S. Marshal or other law enforcement officer."

"Anyone receiving a fake arrest warrant should contact the FBI or the district U.S. Marshals Office. If there is any question regarding the authenticity of a warrant, contact your district clerk of court."

    Definitions, if you need 'em:
    • A summons is an official notice of a lawsuit. It is given to the person being sued (the defendant).
    • A subpoena is a court order. It requires someone to come to court, go to a deposition, or give documents or evidence.
    • Papers or documents are words sometimes used by scammers, as scare words.  Legal documents can be sent via Certified mail. A courier is not absolutely necessary, although  the Sheriff, Constable, or a Bonded Licensed Process Server might be used.  Such people will have appropriate ID.

Called 2 of my family members and left 2 detailed messages with my full name and address saying I was being served legal papers and I needed to be home within 2 hours and sign for them with a witness. I called them back and spoke with a very rude man who hung up on me then Called me back and left a very unprofessional and rude voicemail. I called back and he had me in tears, and was very demeaning. I eventually gave in because he made me believe him and he "transferred" me to a payment line. While on "hold" I got another incoming call from the same number, when I answered it was the "payment line" and the woman said sorry we were disconnected I responded with I'm still on the other line? She had nothing to say. They then told me I HAD to pay with a credit card and I found it odd they had no website or  automated system at all for anything. They also couldn't send me a confrmation of payment. After I gave my card information I still didn't feel right. I googled the number and saw other complaints which struck a nerve bc someone stated they made their mother upset which they did to mine. I Called and canceled my card thankfully in enough to time, and Called them back to tell me exactly what I thought of them. I was told there was no one higher up that I could speak with and the original person I spoke with was the supervisor. I worked in customer service for a long time and no one that holds a position that high up makes outbound phone calls for a "$400" debt. The woman I spoke with asked me if I believed everything I read on the Internet and asked if I was on Xanax. What unprofessional scammers they are! Get a real job and stop harassing people!

Called my Mom and my brother in law which I don't even talk to , saying that I better be home in 2 hours or they will take legal action . I was very upset because my mom was so freighted and called me at work , to find out after googling them their were similar stories . They are fraud . And yes I hAve been served before and they don't call to tell you . I work in credit card fraud so this was a big red flag . Once I tell them that they hang up on me . I'm very mad at these people for upsetting my mother !

They did the same thing to me.  This is a total BS collection company that can get fined if they continue these tactic. All you have to do is have an Attorney call them and they will stop.

Shill alert! You claim you received a pif letter from them. Did they first mail you proof of the debt? See, phone calls are not legiitmate methods of debt validation. If they sent you proof, or even just the pif letter, what's the legal name and business address (PO boxes don't count) of this collector?

    Let me get this straight...
You got a call from a guy named "James".  Got his contact info (but did not care to paste it here), and sent him money, even without him sending you a Validation of Debt snailmail!

Shucks, lets get a crowd to call themselves "James", and Get Rich Quick, by calling Jake S!

Since you know so much about them, how about sharing ALL their information with us?  What is their

    • Full, legal name
    • Legal address (no box numbers)
    • Website
    • BBB page (if any)

Also, in what states are they licensed?

We eagerly await your reply, the lack of which strongly suggests you are a shill for that phone number.

Another typical shill trying to convince people that this criminal enterprise is legitimate.  You all make the same mistakes.  You called the original company, even though it is the debt collectors legal responsibility to prove you owe the debt and that they can legally collect it.  You always "forget" about a loan that you had. You always forget to name the company or give an address, you always dodge the questions or simply don't come back, and last but not least, you always get a paid in full letter.  Sorry, but we know you are lying.  You can redeem yourself though.  Simply tell us the legal name and address of this company.  It should be right there at the top of that letter you claim you received.  We all know you won't though because there is no letter and you certainly do not want law enforcement to find you.

Bogus PDL collectors are infamous for this runaround. Everyone in the office is a top supervisor, yet none of them can provide information or paperwork which the FTC mandates and honest agencies supply without an argument.

Well, good for you. Everyone knows that obeying the orders of strangers on the phone like a sleeper cell is always the right thing to do. Next month when you're called about the same debt, you won't be so surprised. You'll already know it's a true debt, since you've already spoken to the creditor, as referred to you by "James", a household name in debt recovery. You'll be told that you paid the wrong company last time and you're still in trouble. You'll pay again because it's the right thing to do. Anyway, who has time for details like "validation" or "standing to sue"? That "paid full" email with the bad grammar and spelling is all you need to justify your decision.

Keep up that good behavior and by New Year you'll have a whole collection of "Paid In Full" emails for the same account which you can frame and proudly display on your trophy wall at home. That's assuming you still have a wall after blowing off all those bills for rent and power and groceries just to keep process servers away. It's so kind of them to always notify you exactly where and when they will arrive with those "legal papers" you've never seen and no court clerk has ever handled. You know, 'cause it's the right thing to do.

"Stephanie" said that a complaint had been sent by my address. Said that I could call to give my statement And that they would be informing my county clerks office if I was cooperating. In the state of Texas I believe that is considered fraud. I could be wrong but think that if complained against they may face some trouble if reported.

Just a call saying a complaint had been filed from my address and I should make a statement.  Uh, since when does an address file a complaint.

Just received a message from my former sister in law stating that there was a message left on her voicemail with this number stating my full name and address with a case number saying that there has been a case filed with the county clerks office and they are hoping for my cooperation in the matter. First of all yes I do have a few small debts but nothing to call my former extended family over and threaten a filing with the county clerk. I have been to the county office and searched online and can not find a report of a filing or complaint anywhere so this leads me to believe this is a creditor using very outlandish scare tactics to obtain a debt. I will be calling first thing in the morning to verify but my concern is when I do try to settle the debt if that is the case how do I know I'm not being scammed and just throwing my money away? I'm very hesitant and furious over the entire situation.
