They called my mom, my work (twice) m, my husband and funny enough but not me! They tried to claim it was from a previous debt I owed with a company that I never did a loan with. They messed with the wrong person. I will be filing many complaints tomorrow against them. Scum of the earth.

Called my husband's cell phone claiming to be Florida Power and Light stating that if we didn't make a credit card payment immediately, our electricity would be disconnected.  Total scam!  Didn't even know who she was calling!

Utilities do not call you and demand immediate payment.  This is another well publicized scam.  Call FPL directly, by using the phone number listed on your bill, not the number that called you, and talk to them.  They will tell you the same thing, or call your local police dept. and they will also tell you that it is a scam.

So if I go to the web site for FPL, it will tell me that this is their number?  OK, went to their site, and the only toll free numbers that are listed are all 800 numbers, no 844 numbers.  So it looks to me like you are another shill trying to push this scam.

I received calls from this number about 2 months apart. I call it back it doesn't recognize my zip. I found interesting that when you call back the greeting says "This is Florida Power Light..." not Florida Power AND Light. So I know it's a scam. I just wish they stop calling.

Let's see what the real Florida Power and Light electric company says:  https://www.fpl.com/landing/protect.html

    Phone Scam
Phone scammers posing as FPL employees are targeting customers across our 35 county service territory. These scammers are using false phone numbers that could appear on a caller ID to be FPL. They are also using a recording of our customer service phone message to make them sound legitimate. They then threaten to shut the power off unless a payment is made immediately with a Green Dot MoneyPak card. These calls are not from FPL. We will never call and demand credit card information or take Green Dot MoneyPak cards as payment. In fact, we do not ask for any personal information from you unless you initiate the contact. If you ever receive a strange call and are in doubt, hang up and call us at the phone number listed at the bottom of your FPL bill. Authorities have been notified of this scam. It seems to be affecting utilities across the nation. If you think you may have been a victim, please click the Report Fraud/Scam tab above for further instructions on how to protect yourself. And remember, if you’re calling FPL, you’ll need your Social Security number and/or your account number to manage your account.

It appears to be FPL as I called back and it gave me a 800-226-3545 to call back, which is in fact is FPL, entered my number follow by the zip and it was in fact an automated line for FPL telling me that the bill was past due. FPL for sure...
