I received the same call and the name that came up on caller ID was Freddie Bead 845 445-3843. I called the number back and a man asked me for my phone #. I gave my # and then he asked my name. I did not tell him my name and told him that I never received anything in the mail about an IRS audit; he hung up. Pretending you are the IRS... what will they think of next.

I just received the same call but he left me a message. He said they have been trying to reach me by mail but I haven't got anything. Said it's a audit from irs and I need to respond immediately. His voice sounded like he was from the middle east.

Yes, I just received the exact same message. I initially thought it was legitimate and went online to research auditing so I would be prepared by the time he called back...that's when I saw the scam warnings.

I've gotten this phone call from this Mike Davis twice- Middle Eastern accent- threatening legal action.  I called back to follow up and the caller rudely hung up on me twice.  Definitely a prank call or scammer.  Nobody would conduct business like this.

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

    Not Freddie's Friend
We got a call from someone asking specifically for my wife. When I asked the nature of his call, he said that "we need to talk to" my wife " about this." I again asked what the reason for the call was and he told me that I just asked the same thing differently and he needed to talk to my wife.  I told him that if he didn't give the purpose of the call he wasn't speaking to anyone else about anything and he hung up. The call was from Freddie Bead at 845-445-3843 at 0745 on a Friday.

Mike Davis from IRS called and said I was going to be arrested in 45 minutes for taxes I owed. He sounded very official, gave me a case number and read a warrent for my arrest for me. He did scare me as I live alone and was not sure what was going on. He never asked me for money but said I owed $1889. He said for me not to leave and wait for him to arrest me. Awful scam !!

I received the same call from a man with a British accent.  He left a detailed voicemail.  I knew it was a scam, so I did not return the call.  He even ended the call by telling me to have a blessed day.  It takes truly twisted people do this type of work.

On the voicemail, they say it's a lawsuit regarding me.  When you call back, they say they are the IRS.  They are definitely foreigners that need to stop playing.

I didn't answer so my voicemail only caught the tail end of the recording (which was American female) but from what it caught I gathered that there are "four serious allegations against me" and if I don't call them back and take care of it I will be "taken into custody by local police".
