    Answered the phone for my elderly client. Caller said that my yahoo account had been hacked and go to the computer right now!  Told him I knew it was a scam and he hung up on me

    said they were with Microsoft and I had a virus, wanted details so they could remove it. I insisted on what IP address they were looking at, he got rude and insisted I pay money or consequences would be dire. Do not talk to these people, hang up

    Answered to hear a noisy call room, a heavy accent asking for a name I couldn't recognize, I said I can't understand you, after several attempts, when I said, "I'm sorry, I can understand you.", they got angry,(and articulate) "How come you can't understand me!!??" and rattled off angrily something about someone using my yahoo account. I said goodbye and hung up.

    Just recieved a call. Claimed google.email hacked....wanted me to acess my acct. On home computer and give him password. Didnt give it to him,nor did i log onto acct they gave me. Scammmm!!!!

    Just rcvd a call from 845-582-1408. I want to know how these Scammers get my ph number. I knew they were with dealing with several other scams. Orient. Speaking very low voices. Told them do not call here again.

    If you ever posted your phone number on a social site, or used it when ordering online, or otherwise typed it in your computer, or gave it to a friend whose computer was attacked ... your number may be known to the scammers.

    Allow me to present another, very common method, in a very simple fashion ... not to insult your intelligence, but to attempt to get the idea across to even those who have difficulty understanding more complicated answers.

    If you answered "yes", that is a good start.  Try counting from 1 to 10 now.  I will wait.
    ..........
    Finished?  Good.
    I want you to think "0" instead of "10".  Got it?
    Now, get a piece of paper and a pen or pencil, and write down those 10 numbers.  Here, I will help you, in case your forgot:

    0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

    Now get ready to write down some more numbers.  I want you to write them down in the following format:
    ABC-DEF-GHIJ
    Yes, I know those are letters, but I want you to use numbers, instead.
    Think of a number between 0 and 9 ... pick one from the list I gave above, if you wish.
    Write it down, instead of the "A", above
    Do that nine more times, writing it down instead of the other letters.
    Now, look at the result.
    Does it ring a bell?
    It should, because you just wrote down a phone number!

    Mr Computer is very good at making numbers.
    Mr Computer can do what you just did in a fraction of a second.
    In other words, Mr Computer can make and dial phone numbers VERY quickly.

    Spammers and scammers who know about Mr Computer do not need to register and buy the DNC list.
    Spammers and scammers who know about Mr Computer can even dial "unlisted" numbers, or "private numbers" or "brand-new numbers you just got"!
    The DNC list is not a magic switch that blocks these calls from reaching your phone.  It is merely a list.

    There, now you know all about how spammers can dial YOUR phone number, even if it is unlisted, and even if only relatives know it, and even if it is on or off the DNC list.

    I hope that helps prove the DNC list DOES work!  It helps prevent calls from registered / legitimate telemarketers, but it is not able to stop calls from telespammers.  It is also NOT designed to stop political callers (who usually get the numbers from voter registration lists), calls from charities, or some other companies, such as debt collectors.

    I got a call from this number, and they claimed to be Yahoo Technical Support.  They said my yahoo account had been hacked and my account was associated with SPAM mail.  He tried to get me to tell him where I access my account.  I told him I have had yahoo for many years and have never gotten a call from them.  I told him I knew it was a scam and hung up on him.

    Calls me repeatedly.  Indian accent.  Told him to stop calling.  He laughed.  Said he was my ex-boyfriend and was coming to see me.  Told him I worked at a law firm and was going to sue him if he didn't stop calling me.  He hung up.

    Strong Indian accent caller stating he was from Microsoft Live email technical support. Informed me that my live.com email account has been compromised and used with various IP addresses around the world. I would need to give him my password and account information in order to remedy the issue or my account would be closed.

    I told him that in order to process his request I would first need his credentials, which he responded by hanging up on me. I'd say SCAM!!!!

    Just got a call from a man with a very heavy accent they said my google account had been hacked and they were going to walk through the steps to remove a virus, asked me 3 times if i was next to a computer, told me to press the windows key and then the r, at this point i told him i would just delete my old email he said f*** you and hung up

    Called said he was with yahoo.  I told him they don't call your acct.  He got upset and said he was going to close my acct.  He was a rude man I hung up on him after telling him to speak clearly..
