Same old, same old, "Carmen from Card Services." They call here every day from different spoofed fake numbers, sometimes as much as 6 times in a single day. I don't get why they spend the time and effort and probably money, just to annoy people?  What is the business model? Obviously we are never going to give them our personal information to enable them to steal our identity. I don't get it. D-U-M-B.

Am getting at least 4 calls a day from these scammers.  They use a variety of numbers, and often use a spoofed number that is very close to our own number.

This number continues to call my house. Today I stayed on the line to speak to someone. The Robo message is a message about reducing your credit card debt. When a person answered, I asked to be removed from the calling list and I was promptly hung up on.

3rd call today from the credit card scammers.  Probably have called a couple of thousand times by now, and sure cannot figure out what they think they are going to accomplish with all of the calls.  Have them blocked on the repeat numbers, but those keep changing.  Criminal scum!

I love this 800 notes site and want to thank everyone that submits. Same old same old as everyone else. I answer the call to see what scam it is and then play along being so excited to get my rate reduced so I click to talk to the real scammer. (the rep that wants your money that is) You will get this really really excited person that wants to talk with you to get your money and asks about your day and what not. They will always ask you how much you now owe on your credit card. The magic number is generally a credit balance of $3000. So as they begin their speech I promptly tell them that I don't qualify. Amazed they ask why??? I say that I don't owe $3000 and yup, they hang up immediately. I then immediately same the number and name it credit card scam. Depending on your type of phone, (I have a panasonic house phone) you're probably able to manually block 30 to 60 calls. I purposely save the number and name it cc scam so I can see  from caller id who is calling (so I can laugh when they call again) and then I block the number.  If they call again, I amuse myself by seeing the number pop up and then It will only then ring once (as opposed to 6 times) and my phone will say call blocked. Not sure if having the phone cut them off after 1 ringie dingie does anything, but these calls are getting less and less. Worth a try if you feel like killing some time.

We just got the call from this number with the CID "Survey" as well. I've tried Grins' approach and played along too which is very satisfying. Unfortunately one of the scammers offering up these services has started capturing your caller ID information and then using that to spoof theirs when they call other people. We got a call last week from our name and number and it was Rachel or Carmen or whoever. So beware - if you decide to pick up the phone and mess with them, the next calls to others might look like they came from you.

This was yet another bogus call allegedly from this number about lowering credit card interests. Whether or not they are addicted to drugs is of no importance to me. What is important is that I continue to ignore these telelmaggoters at all costs.

We continually get calls to lower our interest rate (which we have none) telling us this is our last chance - but they continue to call and when I ask to get my name removed - they immediately hang up!!!

Howard, I, too got a credit card scam call  from my own house number with my husband's name on the cid. Only difference was that the number had the long distance "1" in front of our house number. I know people say not to answer but if I don't answer, the same number just keeps calling and calling and calling several times a day driving us nuts. Enough is enough! I prefer to answer and then block the number and that method is working pretty much thus far to reduce our robo calls.  We have purposely kept our house phone to give out that number when someone in general/websites need a phone number thus keeping robo calls off of our cells.   It's just been better for the sanity in our household to answer, (and the amusement to play along with the scammer and make them mad enough to hang up on me) and then block. I understand the risk of them spoofing my number but it's only my house phone as opposed to my cell.  My problem now has been calls that show up as "out of area" and no number associated with it. I can't block a call if there is not a number on the cid. Blocking just a name of "out of area" won't work without a number listed. Frustrating, so I can't grin about that. Ugh!  Btw, yesterday I got a cc call and got a really, really sweet lady on the other end. I asked her about her day. When she discovered that I didn't owe on my cc's, she told me that I was in very good shape as opposed to the majority. She actually didn't hang up on me but rather thanked me for talking with her. I guess I made her day. One of these days I'm gonna get one of these people to give me the whole scoop about how this scam works and then I will tell all. "Grins"

BZ signal, they keep you on line long enough to listen to your speil? That's good. lol. What have been the scammer's reactions?

I have a friend that does you one better. This is awful and not morally right and I can't do it but..... it works for her. When she waits for that few seconds of silence that lets her know that it's a robo/scammer she goes into this [***] mode and speaks incoherently. Kinda like someone who is deaf speaking wierdly with that high pitch. I know, I know, it's not right for someone to do this and imitate a disability but if it works.... It is hilarious to hear her as she talks to scammers and the frustration they have to try to continue to understand her thinking she is an easy target to get her to give them personal information.  I so wanna use this method but just can't.  But shame on them trying to get her to give them personal information.
