Robo call about renewing a vehicle warranty

CID showed "Telecomcstsrvc". Blocked caller before message could be left.

I answered but didn't say anything...They disconnected. Not even a "Hello?"

This is a scam call trying to sell you a HIGH PRICED vehicle "warranty" - these scammers obtain lists of new vehicle registrations in various states and then use that info to contact them and offer these high pressure, buy it now scam warranties.

Whether you buy a new or a used vehicle, they will flood your phone or mailbox for almost 2 years with these scam offers.

You can easily tell on the mailed offers that it is a scam - there is no address or comapny listed - just a toll free number that will stop working after a month or so.  They use these throw away numbers to do this scam warranty "pump and dump" operation.   They get your money and then they move on.  Effectively 'going out of business' and taking off with the money that was paid to them.   This is a very common scam.    That's why they call from blocked numbers, faked numbers and the like.
They use all kinds of scare tactics to try and push these products on to victims.   The reality is - if you have the money to pay for the warranty - then just set that aside in a bank savings accoount and don't touch it until you need it.   Problem solved.   When you find out you never needed it - you're not out the money that you would have wasted on the scammer.   Remember - they charge a deductible as well - so factor that in the price they give you.
Really think you might need a service plan or 'warranty'?   Buy it from the dealer.   Only buy a FACTORY service plan o 'warranty' - NEVER buy one that is NOT the FACTORY BRANDED plan.  They are the rip-off, high fee junk.

They called and did not leave a message. Caller ID said from Congers New York.

Selling car warranty. Called them back and talked to James Roemer, claimed to be in Calif. The company is Dexter Process Center. He "said" calls would stop. IDed as Manager.

I'm gonna start answering these calls by saying "Thank you for calling the Virginia State Police, How may I help you?" That may get my number off the list.

I think I might try the same thing!!

Called my cell phone, I did not answer and they left no message. Clearly a scammer though.
