They called 3 times today, but never left a message.

Called three times in the past two hours, but leaves no message

I got two calls in-a-row, no message.  I called back and got a recording saying they are "Where America Stands Research" and asked me to leave a name and number for a call back (I hung up).  They seem to be a survey outfit, but that could be a cover for someone wanting to get your information.  847 is a Chicago north and northwest suburbs area code.

Two phone calls within an hour, no message.  Other look up sites show the number coming from Itasca or Elk Grove Village IL.   Caller I.D. shows "Illinois Call."

Make that three times in one hour.......

Called here for the last three days at all times.  No message left on answering machine.  Call originates from itasca, Illinois area code.

They called again and my wife answered the phone.  They wanted to know, if the election were held today, who would she vote for as Illinois governor: Quinn or Rauner?  And for US Senator: Durbin or Oberweis?

called me today, it is a research firm, I don't care.  I am on a DO NOT CALL list, this means, do not call.  Do not call for political research, do not call for charity, do not call to tell me my 'Microsoft needs to be upgraded' do not call to tell me I have 'won a prize'.  It means do not call, unless I personally gave you the number.

I am afraid you are sadly mistaken.
You are yet another person who either did not read the documentation, or who got lost because of all the words.

This post has two parts.  The =second= is for people who are interested in the realities of the Do Not Call list.  The =first= is for people who have difficulty understanding long explanations, but think the DNC list does not work.

1)
The DNC list is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls.

The DNC list is intended to help stop calls originating from legitimate telemarketers.
* Your calls were not from legitimate telemarketers.
* Therefore, the DNC list will not stop those calls.

2)
The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate, registered telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities, and companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.  Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and scam telemarketing callers!

Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers.   To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

Survey for Senate choices

Thanks for that information.  Many of us know those terms and conditions but many do not.

UGH! Here we go with calls from around here. This was on 9/9/14 @ 4:58 PM CT on a Landline. Back to *60!

847-250-1400 Itasca, IL has called my house 4 times today.  After reading the comments, I now know who they are and will continue to ignore their calls.  They left no messages.

Received 4 calls from this number today. No message left.  I picked up on the last two and there was no one on the line.  

5 calls today from this outfit.  The call comes through for a survey and then hangs up.  No idea who is paying for this but it is an enormous waste of money based on all the messages on this site and other sites about these calls.

Got 4 calls from this number in 30 minutes in the middle of the dinner hour. No messages left and finally had the time to put it on my blacklist.
