just called a 3rd time, left a message, claims to be regarding some investigation or case from Illinois?? I'm in California....based previous notes I'm gonna ignore this.

3 times called, No message. I called back its a collection agency

I think this is a private investigator for BMW.  Called my mother's house asking about my deadbeat brother. (Who we haven't seen or had contact with in years.)

received a call, was left a voicemail from some one claiming to be investigator martin who "wanted to ask questions,uh,inform me of some investigations involving me, uh, some complaints filed against me." left me a phone # 847 985 2132 to call back, i called late at night, was put into a voicemail that did state it was investiagor martin...so this is a scam? it is a collections agency? isnt that illegal, as in i can report them to the do not call registry??

why dont you call it during the day and get some real answers? instead of acting like a dodgy deadbeat and trying to figure out what or who it is exactly so that you can justify avoiding them. you are an idiot. the do not call registry?? i dont know any investigators that are selling magazine subscriptions. lastly, he left his name in the message and you called back at night(again with the dodging, what are you hiding from? i bet it's responsibilities) and found the same name left on the message in the voice mail? is that what you are saying? how is that a scam? idiot.

I have not dodged any collectors. Don't assume that everyone has debt. Someone you don't want to talk to, a collector, and an investigator are 3 different things/people. All probably calling for totally different reasons. What I see is that you didn't like the harsh reality of the truth I laid out for the people who are reaching out to the internet to find answers so they don't have to face consequences of whatever it is that they CHOSE to do. So don't take the focus off of the matter at hand and attack me. Maybe if people had half a brain they wouldn't be in situations where they need to dodge calls.

Inv. Nowicki called looking for an old friend. Identified himself as a fraud investigator. I asked for his badge #, doesn't have one. Has a case number and wants a call back from me to help him find friend. Something's up, he won't disclose he is a collection agent or from IIA, Inc. Aurora Illinois. They repossess cars that are not locatable. I don't roll over on dead beat friends or family. If they want this person so bad, why do you call California looking for someone in California, while sitting in Illinois? Get in a car and get to looking personally. I do know real private investigators in CA. They are licensed by the state. It's not easy to acquire the license as a PI. You can't look from the confines of your cubicle Mr. Nowicki. got a call looking for someone with driving a black BMW who suppose to live 5 houses down from e.

They have called my phone # 2 times. I do not answer if I dont know the number. After the second call, I called them back within 5 minutes, and got no answer or answering machine. They are asking, in thier messages, about someone that I knew years ago. I have no idea where she is now. (nor do I care) I am on the do-not-call list. They are not allowed to call me about someone else, right? This is starting to annoy me. I have no outstanding bills that I am not currently paying on. If they call me again, I guess that I will answer and let them know that the lady is no longer in my life, and hasn`t been for almost three years. I am starting to dislike bill collectors, considering the fact that they are calling me about someone elses bills. (if that is indeed what this is all about)

Some people have collectors calling them because they couldn't pay their debts. Don't insult people that started out like you, but for whatever reason, stopped being able to pay. You're not better because you don't have collectors after you; you just haven't yet been placed in that situation.

I don't answer because these people that call talk to me like a child, but I still don't have the money. I had a good life, got a divorce, and now I'm supporting myself and my son while going to school. Nothing these collectors have to say will make it possible for me to pay, so I'd rather spare myself the grief until I can.

I got a call from this number from a guy named Eric to call back 847-485-2347 I dont owe any debt so I am assuming they are calling in regards to my family member who has collectors after her.

So to you jerks who feel the need to belittle people on here why dont you guys grow up? This economy is hard enough without people like you in the world. People do their best to pay what they can but this economy is [***]. So why dont you guys go waste your daddy's money on a new tv and leave those other alone and get a life besides writing stupid crap on here! Thanks!

We just got a call from a so called investigator and even had a case #  Wow.  She is looking for one of our relatives to repossess their car.  I know all about it and I will be happy to help them. This relative has given our number and our address and they have the car, so of course I will help them.

enough is enough.  Some of these 42 years old kids need to grow up and be responsible.

Basically, without going into too much details, MVTRAC partnered with the collections industry trying to locate 'skips' so that they can be sued, or served with documents.
These calls are likely NOT about finding a car that is entitled to be repossessed.

They are trying to find you and be certain that you can be served or sued in a given jurisdiction, generally for what is called a 'deficiency' on a car that was repo'ed or turned in to the lender.

I no longer work for them, but what I can tell you is that many off the posts on this thread coming from 'anonymous posters' calling people  deadbeats and demanding they pay their deficiency bills are directly coming from MVTRAC affiliated employees and contractors.

WHAT YOU DO NEED TO KNOW IS THIS!-
It is against the law and they can (very easily) be sued for giving the impression that they are affiliated with law enforcement, that they have a "case #", that they have a professional title related to a criminal justice official, when they are doing this to DECEIVE.

You can very easily sue them for damages FOR EACH CALL under the Fair Debt Collections Act, and many attorneys will take this case happily on contingency since its easy to win and they are guaranteed their attorneys fees on top of the collection against the deceptive collector(s). You can also  sue them for the deception in small claims court under FDCPA, FCRA, or other consumer protection acts, and then get a lien against their property..even on their vehicles, and repossess one to settle the damages if they refuse to pay the judgement!

Make sure to keep recordings of any such messages left on your machine that would lead a reasonable person to believe the collector was a law enforcement official- for your court purposes. ANY person acting in furtherance of  collecting any debt or deficiency IS liable under FDCPA etc.. even if they are NOT the original creditor or a licensed debt collector. They will deny this is the case, right up until they finally send you a check to avoid getting sued, for a violation they will lose, and will risk being prosecuted or put out of business over.

ALSO, make a report to your local law enforcement agency for 'Impersonating a Police Officer' against Nowicki or whoever else calls you. Some agencies will indict them criminally if you maintain the neccesary evidence on your answering machine.  They are trying very hard to go as close to identifying as a law enforcement official without actually giving a agency name/title as they possibly can, and while most LE agencies will take a fraud report or a suspicious telephone call report and they will investigate it, most will not indict... but it only takes One!
In any event, the legal standard for  a CIVIL lawsuit is only the burden of evidence, and 9/10 you will win a FDCPA suit against a deceptive caller who uses LE sounding identifiers to cause fright/panic and scare you into contacting them.
Lastly, I would contact MVTRAC at their home office and make a complaint against Nowicki or the person who called you with deceptive allusions to being LE officer(s)- tell them you are suing for a FDCPA violation and need to confirm the "investigators" employment since the contracting company will be a co-defendant- they wont be employed after that day..

This is not a honest mode of business, and need not be tolerated under the law.

I called MVTRAC and asked if an Investigator Helper ever worked there. They stated that no one by the name of "Helper" has ever been employed by our company. This leads me to believe that the post from January 5th might be suspect. Helper obviously does not understand the term basic and too much detail since his dissertation went on for several paragraphs. I guess the law degree from Google will come in handy after Helpers unemployment runs out.
