My husband received a call from this number on his cell phone and then a voice mail.  While he was checking his voice mail my cell phone rang with the same number.  I did not get a voice mail.  All that was on his voice mail was static and like someone was there but not talking.

Something very similar happened to me as well.  My wife and I were traveling and I received a call from this number.  I let it go because I did not recognize it.  Then, IMMEDIATELY after my phone stopped ringing, her phone started ringing and it was from the same number.  They continue to call my number every week or so.  When I call back it sounds like someone picks up the phone but doesnt say anything.

I just got a phone call from this number.  I was going to let it go to voice mail and decided to answer it just in case.  There was no one talking to me, but there was conversation in the background in a language I couldn't understand.  (i.e. not English)

It sounded like a busy restaurant or something.

I'm in Michigan.

I had the same experience as above but did not answer any of the calls as I was in the middle of dinner.  The "Unknown" caller called every 30min. and until 10:30pm but left no message.

I am in NC and have Sprint/Nextel service.

It is Sprint/Nextel trying to renew cell phone contracts.

I'm a sprint customer as well.  It appears that we all have the sprint network, so I don't know why they're calling.  Since my first post they've called 5-6 times each day, using both this number and an "Unknown" number.  On the 847 number they sometimes leave voicemails with nothing but static and voices in the far background, sounded like yelling.  Either it's Sprint calling, which I doubt, or maybe it's a competitor calling sprint customers to try to get them to drop Sprint due to annoyance.  Could be a Sprint employee that's pissed at sprint using a dialer to do this with numbers he/she copied down perhaps. I'm going to call Sprint and speak to as many Supervisors as it takes find out where this number's coming from.

I just got off the phone with a Sprint supervisor, and I had them check the number to see if it was on their network.  They said that the number is not a Sprint number.  They insisted the only way that I could get the calls to stop is to change my phone number, which the solution I'm about to pick is to just drop Sprint all together.

THESE calls are fraud.  I first got a call from this number last week. These people have called my phone and my husband's phone at least 50 times in the last week. At first they say they were from Sprint.  I'm a Sprint employee, so I was suspicious.  I questioned the caller and they said they are an authorized Sprint dealer named Wireless Promotions and wanted to renew my contract. After I questioned them more, they hung up. I reported these calls to our Corporate Security and Fraud Departments and they are working on this. The calls are coming from India, but they have not been able to trace them to a specific company. They said this phone number has called at least 5000 Sprint PCS phones in the last week and a half, trying to steal Sprint customers.

Same situation as above.  I'm a Sprint customer too, for now.  Was getting the same thing from the Domican Republic before this started.  Apparently, the creeps have gone stateside.

If you create a contact for the number and the set the ringtone to "No Sound" you will never know they are calling.  However, if you have your vibrate turned on, you will still feel it but if you know you should be hearing a ringtone with the vibration, you know who it is.  Granted, it's not a perfect fix but may be a little help.  I received 4 calls from that number while reading this string.  I would hope Sprint does something soon.

I too am a sprint customer, just got called twice in a row.  Lots of static and a "Hello?  Hello?"  I've been receiving two calls in a row every day for at least a week.  Only one from an unknown number the entire time.

I have complained to Sprint twice this week and was told a 3rd party block would stop the calls. IT DOES NOT WORK. I've gotten several calls tonight alone as late as 10:19pm. When I demanded the address from the lady at the company they call themself WIRELESS PROMOTION,(the lady calls herself Alice Copper) she acts like she can't hear me and hangs up, but thats after she questions she on why I need the address. Yesterday she tried to get me to (verify)really give her any other phone numbers I might have under the pretense of multiple phone discount. I refused and she got frustrated. These people tell you they are with Sprint/Nextel and they are not in any way connected to Sprint/Nextel. If they were they would verify password on peoples accounts if you have one added to your account. I have been getting any where from 1 to 5 calls a day including voice mails with people talking in the background only & no messages daily for the last 2 weeks. NO, is not in their vocabulary. They just call back.      BEWARE    BEWARE   BEWARE   BEWARE    BEWARE

i also got a call from this same number, but i didn't answer, and when i listened to my voice mail, the message they left was simply a feminine (homosexual, even) sounding voice, saying "hello.........hello......hello?"
and then they hung up. i was perplexed, but when i decided to google-it, i saw that others had gotten calls from this same number. this actually frightened me, though.

I received about 10 calls from this and other numbers today, all with the same response.  Either static and voices in the background or when I answered they would hang up on me.  Kinda strange.  I hope it stops, although I miss most calls due to vibrate not being noticed from 2 rooms away.
