text msg, call them , I.e. Wells Fargo..... Item requested was doc security no.

I received a text from 848-300-0040 saying it was a Wells Fargo notification.  I am registered with the federal No Call list.

Got a call two days ago from (876)483-8987 which was a young scam artist so I just hung up. Then yesterday I got the Well Fargo text like the rest of you from an obviously auto-generated number (603)818-826@kineticweb.com with the 0040 number as a call back. I have had my same cell phone number for ten years and I have never had this problem so it must be connected to someplace that got hacked with all our phone numbers. We must all have something in common. The theft of our phone numbers must be a recent thing, because like I said this never happened to me before now. I wish the FBI would crack down on these jerks.

I am not calling back to find out what it was about.

I took it upon myself to call the FBI on this issue. I forwarded the track-back information from my phone on these scammers. They have an entire section that is devoted to this type of thing. I would suggest everyone call them with the info you have on these slime balls.

Text msg stating it is from Prosperity bank. Banks do NOT contact their customers this way. It is a scam and phishing for personal info. Do not call or respond.

Received unsolicited call on cellular telephone from 848-300-0040 with text 512-585-953@rr.com referencing Prosperity BNK Notification. No response was made as this is obviously a scam since I don't have an affiliation with Prosperity Bank. Similar calls were receive last week with Wells Fargo and Bank of America banks.    

I got a cell phone text to return call to this number.  Claimed to be Prosperity Bank.   Didn't respond.  Smelled scam.  Went  to Prosperity website where I found a warning (and no matching phone number)

Nooo I really hope you didn't give these guys any information.  You never call these numbers back and ALWAYS call the number on the back of your card or on the website to call and inquire.  Good luck to you if you did.

Got this text similar numbers as above.  Caught me off guard at first because I had just paid all my bills like 30 minutes before any way. I didn't call them back and they are on the well's fargo site as a known phisher.
On a side note how come scam isn't a choice on call type?

urgent notification from Wells Fargo (848)300-0040. I missed this call on my cell phone. I did not call back.  I do not bank with them, or have any affiliation with them.

Not only our home phones are sold.  They got to cells too.  Nothing we can do.  I hate it.  Cant even use my own phone without worrying someone is getting the number.   I never give my cell out besides friends and im getting bulls..t calls all the time.

Caller: 973xxxyyyy@rr.com  <-- different number than one reported above.

According to wikipedia, which is usually but not always reliable, rr.com was the internet address for Time Warner's Road Runner service.  Time Warner stopped using "Road Runner" so not have to pay licensing fees to Universal.

I would imagine the FBI could track down the owner for 848-300-0040.  I suspect that the 973 number before the rr.com is not a phone number but instead an email address.  I wonder if the scammer is using the 973 number so they can identify which message got through (since if I called them, they might ask for the 973 number.  Just in case, I decided not to post the actual number for everyone else to see.

Same text same number from Wells Fargo tonight. I've also had 2 missed calls from a no caller ID number today who doesn't leave a message. Called my bank they said it was a scam
