Received call from this # but did not state what company & only details was about legal liability. Did not call back

GOT A CALL FROM THIS NUMBER. THE MSG WAS AUTOMATED AND SAID IT WAS FROM BRYANT JOHNSON AT THE
IRS. HE SAID I HAVE A FRAUDULANT TAX FILING IN MY NAME AND IF I DIDN'T CALL THAT NUMBER BACK I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL PENALTIES.

There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being  practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.

I got a poor quality call form a male computer voice that was threatening me. They claimed to be the IRS and that I had only 2 hours to call the back before they would come put me in jail if I did not pay. lol I did not call back... They called from 850-391-0708 and told me to call that number back. Earlier today I got a call form 630-213-2643 saying something similar but in a female computer voice. "She" wanted me to call 360-727-8058.

Unknown incoming Id, therefore sent to voicemail. Left an automated message with this number.

I have been receiving tons of scam calls recently from about 20 different numbers, 3 of which are IRS scamming.

Called and left no message

The caller claims to be from the IRS demanding money and making threats.

Called again and this time, left the following cheesy computerized message:  "Hey give call back on our number 850-391-0708 I repeat it's 850-391-0708. This call is for your betterment and safety. And if I don't receive your call in next two hours and you will be the sole responsible for the further legal consequences. Goodbye. God bless you."

They said "God bless you."  I feel so special!

I got the same message!! Pressed DELETE. Out of curiosity I checked to see who else received the same blessings from these scammers.

Got a call stating illegal case against my name...but never says who they are seeking...says I need to call their number if i want to know more about case I need to call their office in the next 2 hours or be sole responsible for further legal consquences..Then told good bye and God Bless.

A recorded message claims it's from IRS and ghreatens action agsinst me. It is a spam as IRS never makes phone calls to tax payers.

Just got a call from this number, and a call from 818-843-9669. I called the IRS yesterday like 4x- they know somehow who is calling the IRS, and is calling them back as a scam!

Got a call from  850-391-0708 and I looked up number & the number is in Tallahassee, Florida. This number is near the downtown area,  blocks from the IRS building, and a landline. They used threats of IRS fraud. Where are the public employees that investigate these people/phone scams? I can't believe that this "landline" continues to harass people for money using the name U. S. IRS!!!! I did have them traced and I have an address/name!!! Hope that this information will helped stop these individuals!!!!!

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

they are relentlessly calling me about the good news on a loan I never applied for. It is an automated call, so if you answer is a recording, if you don't answer, they leave voice mail and 8503910708 as a call back number. I called back immediately and a man with a heavy accent answered I asked him to stop harrassing me, I'm not interested on a loan, I have wasted 1/2 my minutes just listening to their voice mails. The man said, ok, I take you off list. Not 2 minutes later I get another automated call, exactly like the one from 7 minutes before. Yes, I called him again and tore him a new one and mentioned the FCC and said the word "attorney" and he apologized, said it will not happen again. We will see about that.
