no messages left. Did a *69 call back answer machine states that the company name is Check Assist

I answered the call. They asked for someone named Ray. I had been receiving calls for past few years from another number where they were also looking for this Ray - there is NO Ray at my home and I've had my phone number for 9 years. Previous caller had been trying to collect on a debt, not sure if they are a debt collector. Their company name came up as ESM Enterprises which is a promotional company, but the phone number wasn't the same.

Addition to my previous post. There is an ESM Enterprises in Florida, with an 850 area code, that collects on debts and bad checks.

This number does go back to a collection artist, in Pensicola FLA. They were trying to collect on a check from 2006, they said it was written to "BIG LOTS" for $30 some dollars, againt a Charter One Checking account, that had my name.  Only problem is my mane was mispelled, and I never had a checking account at Charter One, plus Big Lots, in my state declared bankrupcey in 2003, closing all their store.   Caller stated they were from ESM Enterprises. This is BS!!!!!

They called 3 times in 10 minutes.  I hung up on a very bitchy collector three times.

What was it?  I just got a call and the woman was very rude with me on the answering machine.

the number I got was 85-494-239.  I would really like to know what the heck.

I received a call from them, too, and they're for real. They said they were representing Tom Thumb and that I had written a personal check to them that came back and they wanted me to pay for the check plus $25.00.  Thank god I had cancelled that check AND notified the police when my purse was stolen because any checks that they might write, even though I had closed that account, I would be responsible for (says the bank). No word from them since giving them copies of both the Affidavit of Fraud from my bank and a copy of of the police report,

I meant that I had cancelled that checking account instead of that check

They called trying to collect on some debt that was discharged in bankruptcy in 2010...watch out they also said they were trying to reach my mother at the same number...she has been dead for three years.
