more than once I got this crap no message call, just haven't reported it in the past.

Name of Somers comes up on my phone and maybe on yours too.  Just so much more crap, no VM so I just delete

Every day around 5:30 we will get a call with an  unknown name

Two days in a row...same number calls - no message.  Caller ID says, FLORIDA.  Tried reverse calling, but this yields no information on who it is and ultimately leads only to a request to leave your name, number, etc. on a voicemail (yeah, right!!!).

We are 87 years old and it is a struggle to get up and go answer the phone.  We were having dinner tonight and dragged to the phone to see FLORIDA on caller ID.  Called back tonight but only got someone asking what extension do you want.  Do  Not Call list is of no value and a waste of time and money.  We still get annoying phone calls.

This post has two parts.  The =second= is for people who are interested in the realities of the Do Not Call list.  The =first= is for people who have difficulty understanding long explanations, but think the DNC list does not work.

1)
The DNC list is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls.

The DNC list is intended to help stop calls originating from legitimate telemarketers.
* Your calls were not from legitimate telemarketers.
* Therefore, the DNC list will not stop those calls.

2)
The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate, registered telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities, and companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.  Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and scam telemarketing callers!

Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers.   To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

Repeated phone calls 3 days in a row.....no message, no one on the phone line
This is NOT a legitimate spammer.  When I dialed the number it rang, rang, & rang....then went to voicemail indicating this call was coming from 239-668-9899 which is my area code but my Caller ID indicated 850-688-9899
Do Not Call has helped once I get a call IF I REPORT IT. Annoying but report these scammers!

6 days in a row at least 2 calls a day from 850-688-9899.  When I call back and dial ext 0 I am able to leave messages which I have done requesting they stop calling but the calls continue.  This is to the point of harassment as no one is ever on the line when I do answer their calls to my home.  I wish there was something more that we could do against these people like maybe calling their home number every 5 minutes and see how they like it!!!!

oh joy, another pain in the butt telemarketer.  they call and when you answer they don't speak.  I wish I had their money to waste...  you got to wonder, why are they doing this and what are they getting out of it.  

You have been the victim of a "predictive dialer" that has had more calls answered then the number of live agents available.  Typically these dialers are programmed to simultaneously call a few more numbers than agents since the caller centers know that only a percentage of calls will actually be answered and they want their employees making pitches rather than listening to the phone ring or to answering machines. You can report these calls to the FCC as "dropped calls" which are illegal. If a pattern of dropped calls is detected for a call center they will investigate, issue fines, and force the call centers to adjust their dialers to eliminate the majority of dropped calls. Repeat offenders receive increasingly stiff fines.

this number has called here at least twice a day for the past several days. leaves no message. annoying. they need to stop bothering people.

When will this ever end? Husband Firefighter, Son US Military.....I always feel I should answer in case of an emergency.  Half the time I don't answer thinking if it's an emergency they will leave a message.  The rest of the time I do and get nobody on the other end.  In a country that is supposed to be civilized, one would think this kind of thing could be nipped in the bud quickly.  Instead, it keeps happening more and more! To think about what I have to pay for this abuse is nauseating!  If I did not have to use a telephone, I wouldn't.  But because I could get "THE" call stating my loved one is hurt or worse, I have to endure these calls.  Where is our America anymore?

Just got a call from this number and there was nobody on the line, just dead air. Caller ID said Tallahassee FL. Rarely do I answer calls when I don't know who it is that is calling and I do not appreciate my time being wasted. At least have the courtesy to answer me when I say "hello?". Freaking scammers, I HATE them!!!!

This number called and left no message. After seeing all on here will just add it to my little box that blocks calls on my landlines. Thank goodness for that little box. Don't get mad, get even and buy a call blocker by Sentry or any of the other brands. There were even a few phones that also offered it. So sick of the crap where these phone numbers call, I answer, they sit there and then hang up on me. What is the point? Telemarketers are trying to sell something and therefore talk. What is the point of these people who call so many, sit there, and then hang up?
